the discord stream will start at 2025-06-01T00:00:00Z, after a quiz about Mr. Bean’s Holiday. i won’t be there tonight, but connrrr will handle the running of the quiz, so everything should be set (i promise i’ll watch it later!).

as evidenced by their low attendance, as well as discussion with numerous people, it’s clear that the current meeting time for our discord movie streams isn’t the best fit for most people. so, let’s change it!
to go about this, i think it’d be useful to use polls to gauge where interest is at, and start narrowing down which meeting times would work best:
how often would you be interested in watching the streams of the movie in the discord?

which days of the week would work best for you to watch the stream?
please get more specific about which times of day would work best for you via replies, along with any other thoughts you have about this. hopefully we can find a good time for everybody interested!
if enough people are interested, it might be more convenient to have multiple streams of the movie at different times of the week; if you’d be interested in hosting such streams (really just obtaining and streaming the movie yourself), feel free to offer to do so, at the time that’d work best for you.
thursdays, fridays, saturdays, and sundays would work best for me, and i’d be able to make it almost any time past noon (est) on those days. i would be able to make any day past 7:00 pm est, though.
if we do end up having multple streams of the movie, we’d probably have to rethink how we do the quiz to decide the next movie, but that’s a small price to pay.
I am able to do basically any day. As it is right now for me the movie starts at two in the night and may go past five in the morning if it’s a long one. This isn’t necessarily a problem as I’m basically nocturnal, although it would be nice to have it a bit earlier so I could participate in the voice chats. I know at least Alicia has expressed interest in the film club to me, but been unable to attend as she always sleeps during it.
Time zones are always the big problem with these, and I think committing to any set time will be a detriment to someone. My proposal would be to vary the screening times; perhaps changing from week to week, based on what film is screened or simply determined by a weekly vote.
At the moment it’s usually just NoJoTo, connrrr and me during the screenings, which isn’t a crowd although it’s still fine. For me this is just a nice little hangout to practically force myself to watch a movie every now and then and if it continues like that, then so be it. But if we could get some more people by changing the time, I’d be all open for it. I don’t want it to be our closed friend group that people feel like they’re intruding on or something.
Another thought around this is if people find the film selection interesting or not. Initially Nat curated the selection, but then we started doing the quizzes where the winner gets to pick to;
Evidently, this didn’t really effect participation much and has now turned into the choice ping-ponging between me and connrrr. Last night I won the quiz against myself and will get to pick the film two weeks in a row. I don’t want this to become too self-indulgent, but I fear it’s running the risk.
another thing: connrrr has been the one finding and streaming the movie each week (thank you immensely by the btw way, connrrr!), so either our new time will have to work for her, or we’ll have to have new people be willing to stream the movie.

My schedule is really esoteric but I’m probably best later evenings, particularly Sunday after I get off work around 8pm CST. Otherwise I could make the occasional Tussday or Wednesday before 8pm work. That’s not to say I could never make another time work but those are my best options.
