@“safety_light”#p64316 lol this one I do remember
started Yakuza 3 and having an absolutely excellent time so far. I burned out after playing like 100 hours of Kiwami 2 a while back and I recently got struck with a very intense desire to start this one. It's so great and comfortable so far.
Loving the mid-00s goons

I spent some six hours yesterday playing Lost Judgment last night and barely touched the main storyline (literally just one small cut scene). At first it doesn‘t feel like there’s a whole lot to do when you open the maps to see what icons are available (especially with the loss of my beloved karaoke) but as you go through the school stories there are some really dense mini games on the scale of the toy car racing from Yakuzas 0 and Kiwami. Of the ones that I‘ve experienced so far my favourites are the boxing, dancing and street racing. The storylines in each are great too - I’ve reached the first milestone of the street racing and almost, almost shed a tear at a father-son reunion / acceptance resolution.
Excellent stuff.
@“sabertoothalex”#p64339 I love Yakuza 3! It's such a good one. There are people on the internet (mainly reddit) who are constantly asking for Kiwami 3! I understand that y3 has a little bit of Jank and it can be pretty jarring going from K2 to y3, but idk, Yakuza 3 rules.

Really struggling to find the will to finish Control. I'm a little past the half-way point in terms of main story missions - does the game get any better beyond this point? Is there an interesting gameplay or story surprise coming? Or am I looking at several more hours of the same?
So I guess I'm playing Gravity Rush now!!
The gravity-manipulation mechanics are a lot more intuitive than I think the designers thought they might be, I kind of wish the game would ease up on the tutorials. I love the Moebius-influenced art style. I love love love Kohei Tanaka's score, in fact I've listened to the OST so much ahead of playing the game. I did this with Jet Grind Radio back in the day. I don't know why I worry that it will ruin a game to listen to its music before playing it, because it never does.
My poor Vita works so hard to push out all these polygons—cutscenes lag and the audio falls completely out of sync. I wonder if this is simply The Gravity Rush Experience and if maybe overclocking the thing could help? (It's been a while since I dabbled with taiHEN plugins.)
@"billy "#p64383 I liked the game enough to press on, but you don't gotta. Put that thing on hold, go play something that speaks to you.
@“connrrr”#p64442 I don’t remember GR on Vita having those specific behaviors but I first played it years and years ago so the remastered one could have replaced my memories of it by now haha. Glad to hear you’re enjoying though! They’re my favorite duo of games in recent history.
@"billy "#p64383 Similar to connrrr I liked it enough to play on and there are for sure some cool set pieces and stuff later on! It’s not gonna fundamentally change though. You should have a pretty good idea at this point what the game is.

YES
@"rejj"#p64134 by the way, how did you manage to extract The Fork Video from the bowels of the net? I would like to educate myself/get current on the latest tips & tricks of web navigation. I kneel before you, seeking wisdom

@“connrrr”#p64442 I love love love Kohei Tanaka’s score
the overworld music is so beautiful, I miss that game's atmosphere. I should replay one of these days and get around to playing the sequel which i've heard it's even better
maybe i'll play it on my vita once I get the parts I need to repair it. I've only played it on ps4 so it might be a nice change to play it on a small screen
@“captain”#p64460 (and anyone else that may be curious) I replied to this over in the technical questions thread .
@“穴”#p64461 I hope you can get your Vita patched up! It's amazing the motherboard is still functional
Oh yeah, I forgot to remark on how a game centring around gravity begins with an APPLE falling out of a tree?? get outta here

This pretty much mirrors my experience with the game. I also chose the Black Eagles Edelgard route. I also thought the game slightly overstayed its welcome although it still had sufficient momentum for me to carry through to the ending. Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, but I just don't see myself ever picking it up to play another route, its simply too long. It just seems much more appealing to play one of the other entries in the series rather than having to play through a slightly different version of the same game until the point where the routes really diverge.
Related to the difficulty talk I continued to enjoy the battles throughout and had a bunch of character building strategy stuff in mind for most of the game. However, I played the game on hard difficulty and classic mode. I'm really not some expert at SRPGs, although I do enjoy them, and didn't find this combination too difficult or frustrating (largely due to the rewind feature). It did however keep me on my toes and I had to think about my strategy in many of the battles which I think ultimately made the game more fun for me, so I guess this is my recommended play mode. If the rewind feature was nonexistent I would have definitely not chosen classic though! I actually wrote a long post about this while I was playing the game, which explains some of my thoughts on this in more detail https://forums.insertcredit.com/d/247-easy-games/33
Well, pretty advanced on Bloodborne. Now everything left is the final boss and the DLC, but I decided to put it off after powering it through.
It‘s easier than I thought and that’s because the game enables some things that makes the game slightly better. The combat and the weapon crafting makes it better, but I feel like the change in mechanics (parrying and backstabbing, as also aggro) makes the game more enjoyable, like dissecting and analyzing the field before starting the different fights; sometimes, though, you have to improvise.
Bosses… I died a lot to several of them (Rom and Amelia like 5-6 times) and well, some were good and some were bad. I‘m one of the few that really enjoyed all the final area of the main game, but I hate the Chalice dungeons: they’re really boring (I get that the solution they did was the easiest one to implement), but I feel it‘s the main game on steroids with procedural dungeons and well, it sucks. Also, at first I enjoyed the music, but I feel I don’t need it and sometimes it grates me. The game is so beautiful and the sound design is so fitting that any orchestral arrange seems like it simply doesn‘t belong. Maybe it’s my opinion (as also there are some irregular things that I don‘t enjoy and some bland areas, too), but hey, overall it’s a great game, specially the beginning and the final part. I‘ll stop before fully engaging with the DLC, and I’ll get on finishing G-String and Anno Mutationem.
PS: I get why people do NG+, though: the combat and the weapons feel nice and are really cool, so much that it makes you want to try new things and runs.
yes I found BB to have a good balance of bosses giving the impression of being intimidating with the feeling that you can be aggressive and beat them without having to get too technically skilled

@“xhekros”#p64975 I’ll stop before fully engaging with the DLC
this is the best part though, but no harm in watching a playthrough if you're worn out and want to move on
@“yeso”#p64982 That is the case. I am worn out and I know I need to fully engage with this
@“xhekros”#p64975 I remember a loud contingent in the community urging that everyone take on the DLC once it becomes available in your first playthrough because it becomes so much harder on NG+, and that‘s what I did but it interrupted the plot I was unravelling and probably also left me over-levelled for the back half of the game. I think you’ll have fun exploring the hunter's nightmare when you get around to it. Fuck the chalice dungeons.
I'm probably due for a replay soon. That game fucking rocks. All action games should make you feel the way Bloodborne does.
@“connrrr”#p65008 yeah i've said it before, but, Bloodborne kind of ruined video games for me. nothing else feels anywhere near that intense and gratifying.
@“whatsarobot”#p65014 Nioh‘s pretty good. I played it not long after BB. The stances give it a similar rhythm to tricked weapons. The loot is kind of overwhelming though. Don’t know why I haven't touched Nioh 2 yet.
@“xhekros”#p64992 NG+ mechanics, meta-spoilers at best: ||worth pointing out as well that Bloodborne is among the modern era From Software titles that does not let you choose to initiate or not initiate a NG+ after beating the last boss and triggering an ending.|| So, if you want to take @“connrrr”#p65008's suggestion and take a break after beating the game, but without giving up the option to play The Old Hunters set to the default difficulty on the same save file, ||best way to go about that is probably to get right to the end and get completely ready to face the last boss, turn off your cloud save auto-upload before your play session where you intend to beat the last boss, do so and enjoy the ending, and then close the game and download your cloud save from when before you beat the game.||
Thirding the obviously not unique position that _The Old Hunters_ is absolutely essential. It's also not necessary to play right now either, I mean, I played _Bloodborne_ in May of 2015, and then played _The Old Hunters_ shortly after release at the end of the year. It's hard as fuck if you initiated NG+ which is what I did on my first go of it, but it's got the most challenging content in the game either way, so maybe it's a moot point.
