Thank you to Our President !
The clock app is back. As crazy as the thank you Mr. President aspect is, I was actually shocked at how much people were openly mourning the app. That’s a level of normie I can’t comprehend
vile app. Luckily age has saved me from it.
Can anyone explain the Village People appearance to me? Is this some sort of dog whistle?
Here’s my best attempt:
-
I didn’t know this until I was also wondering about this, but I guess YMCA is like a Trump theme that he’s played at a whole lot of rallies.
-
There’s only one original member of the Village People still in the band, and he seems to have… weird politics. Not awful, just kinda naive and centrist? Like, he said he continued to let Trump use YMCA at rallies because he felt bad that a bunch of other artists were withdrawing the rights to their music.
Even if he doesn’t allow for it, be assured that media and Trump would twist it in his favor. We had so many examples of people doing mental gymnastics in other areas (like right wing people in Spain trying to gaslight us that “Bella ciao” wasn’t a song against fascism and against Mussolini’s regime because it was shown in a Spanish series).
I know there are other examples in politics and also in US politics, but you get the idea.
something I’ve been painfully aware of in the lead up to Trump is how many powerful companies and executives are showing allegiance for him preemptively and cynically. This is weird right? I guess rainbow capitalism flourished after Obergefell v. Hodges in a similar show of ‘virtue signaling’ (for lack of a better term) but I think I’m too young to have a full understanding
When they say Trump is signing a hundred executive orders on day one, does he actually have to sit at a desk and sign a hundred of pieces of paper? And assuming no, what does he actually do?
pretty sure he’s not only signing them but writing them himself as well
wow Biden commuted Leonard Peltier’s sentence
I could easily Google this but will ask instead—when was the last inauguration where business interests were so nakedly involved in the process? Thinking of Zuck and Bezos in the front row. Have they always been like this and I just never noticed, or is this yet another development
I don’t think we’ve seen this kind of thing recently in the states and yes definitely weird. But maybe not unexpected?
It’s always been there. Just how humans and power/capital dynamics work.
Seems they just care less & less about hiding it nowadays. Or it’s harder to. Or both…
The people always prevail though. There’s good times in “bad” times and bad times in “good” times. Figure it’s easier to not worry too much about the bad. It’s gonna be there regardless & doesn’t need any additional energy from me.
So Musk gave nazi salutes at the inauguration
I guess everyone has seen it, I’m just really alarmed
I wouldn’t be too alarmed for the sign itself (Musk pandering to nazis that hate him is so funny) and I think we aren’t too alarmed for other horrible things to come with a fascist, neoliberal sect of tech billionaires in the “court”.
Maybe it’s me, but that’s how I feel about that as a whole.
I find the reality of politics and media that I occasionally step into upsetting. First, minutes after I watch a rabbi and a Detroit pastor both give speeches, a woman sings a song, and the news commentary tells me there’s no diversity at this inauguration. Then I see everyone leaving the rotunda in 25 degree weather and no one except Trump, Vance and co. wearing a hat, gloves, or a coat of any sort. Then the first 15 minutes of speeches at the after party were about how cold it is outside.
I’m sure you can find holes in my argument, but it seems like a lot of powerful people just make up whatever shit they feel like spewing and I’m the asshole for not trusting them.
please take note of 2 key statements from todays festivities:
- The Golden Age of America begins today
- We will put an American Flag on The Red Planet
Haters better start skipping dessert because you’ll be eating plenty of humble pie over the next 4 years
