(Archived 2025) Having a very normal morning on this very normal day.

Well good to know. Every media outlet over here (Denmark) is melting down. The apocalypse is here and and so on.

I think Trump is trying to seek an “outside enemy” to pin the blame on (aaah typical fascist rethoric) and it’s depressing to see how much they’re hyping themselves up for a thing people doesn’t care at all.
The tariffs are another thing, though -if it happens, we have a worldwide economic crisis at worst coming up.

I think it’s one of those libertarian scams to acquire greenland and then use it as like a zero tax, zero regulation autonomous place like this

Yeah. I believe it’s this group that has its eyes on Greenland right now.

Dryden Brown is on twitter if you want to see the sort of guy he is. Don’t recommend it unless you like weird christian libertarianism.

Flying out of DCA (–> LAX and then → MEL :australia: :kangaroo: :tada:)

I’ve never flown out of here before, always through IAD. It was bizarrely empty as I got here, no lines anywhere, security very quick. Upon passing through security, it’s a hellscape. From each gate pours out a clown car of MAGA.

Apparently Marvel Snap is down too, collateral damage (dev owned by ByteDance, that was news to me)

edit: just to clarify, it’s the publisher (NuVerse), not the dev (Second Dinner), that is owned by BD

its really upsetting knowing that its almost certainly coming back the day of his inauguration and will be some of the best press possible even though HE started it

It’s hardly going to be the last, or even the most consequential.

He started it, the democrats pushed it through for some reason, and now he gets to claim victory for it. Pretty cool

I do just want to say after scrolling Red Note for a few days now: there are no ads, the algorithm almost instantly showed me gay accounts, and people are super welcoming and there is TONS of closed captioning already

it probably won’t stick around long, and will DEFINITELY get targeted by the american government next but its a fun moment in time!

Going to spend the next (oh God, I hope it’s only) four years trying not to care who gets credit for what.

Of course that stuff matters, but there’s nothing I can do about it, and I think I’ve finally made peace with the notion that I have no voice in American politics.

Yeah, but also, I feel they are going to mess up so badly that it won’t matter whose credit is.
My horror comes if Republicans are able to twist it in a way that makes everything much worse and people will applaud them for it.

Yeah it took about five minutes for Red Note to figure out I’m a big ol’ communist and started showing me fascinating posts from Chinese and American Marxists interacting.

Like you said, it’s a moment that will probably pass, but it’s kinda neat what’s happening over there at the moment.

Fun side note: I only saw one post that was telling Americans to go away, and the poster did not realize that Red Note surfaces their IP address, so all the replies were like “you have an American IP, dummy”.

What?

Sorry, I got mixed up. They show you your IP, but they only surface the location for others.

I have some friends that are right now pretty devastated with the shut down, who also don’t see the comeback coming because they’re not plugged into politics like that.

Tiktok is now apparently telling people this…

imo if they wanted this stunt to be more effective maybe they should’ve waited til when he takes office? or maybe they didn’t want people who are genuinely addicted to experience symptoms similar to withdrawal?

those who are most susceptible to this stunt probably aren’t even aware he isn’t in office yet
