Some strays born in my friend’s backyard. My phone showed me this picture from exactly 3 years ago. They were adopted shortly after this photo was taken.

I want to remember my guy Bowie setting an example for all of us by doing what he loved most: touching grass.

He was a farm kitten when we adopted him and his brother. He liked watching TV but wanted to spend as much time as he could outdoors (an inspiration). He never looked super athletic but he was extremely fast even for a cat. If he got excited enough he would give kind of a chomp (playfully) on the face. He only ever did this for me and my sister. His paws were massive and he liked kneading faces (gently). He let me hold his paws and he would squeeze my fingers back. He would steal my pillow but secretly I was ok with it. I’m going to miss the way he smelled (like a cake), the sound of his purring and his peacock-ass tail when it shot up as he strutted around. I’m glad I was able to be with him when it was time.

Sorry for your loss. It’s really hard losing a pet that’s been with you for so long. It’s like losing a part of yourself. It seems Bowie lived the best life he could have though and that’s the most important thing.

Maybe I’ll learn from his example and touch grass today.
