@“穴”#p148167 get a different usb dongle then? Like an 8bitdo 2. Does your PC not have Bluetooth?
@“treefroggy”#p148202 it doesn‘t cause it’s old! and I generally tend to stay away from bluetooth when there's an option but yeah may have to give in
hmmmmmm so my physiatrist forbid me to touch ANY playstation controller after a severe hand cramp from a yakuza session. The playstation controller never felt quite good in my hands tbh but it kept getting worse year after year.
I got all sorts of injuries and put my ps4 away for half a year. The past week i went back to it just to see it and after 30 minutes my hands started aching again. My doctor said i can't go back ever lol
I do own switch pro controllers, a xbox one controller (those being the more modern ones) and older ones going from there. Is there an adapter that i can hook up to my ps4 and use different controllers? it is that or i'll be moving to box-style ones

Let him help you. Surely your physiatrist has a heart.
In all seriousness, I have no idea if it would be more comfortable for you but the form factor and required grip is definitely way different from regular PS controllers so you should check it out. (Also exists for PS2 [and Switch.](https://hori.jp/products/nsw/nsw_slime/))

@“穴”#p148247 get a Bluetooth usb adapter, not a gaming one but a general one (or heck, both)
Long Range USB Bluetooth 5.0… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LVH5BCP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

You might look into getting rubber grips for the controller and to put on top of the thumbstick. It changes the way the controller fits in your hand and the angle your thumb makes contact with the sticks. I've also felt really bad cramping after using my PS4 controller for long periods of time (especially with Yakuza too looool) and I normally don't like the rubber grip addition sort of thing but it's kinda of a big difference in comfort, at least for me.
@“connrrr”#p150384 top left is Monster Rancher btw. Episode 1 always got me excited.
I updated my stadia controller so now it works with bluetooth on my pc. Bluetooth has its issues but now I don't have to plug it in wired. woohoo!
The Switch, Playstation and Xbox controllers are all pretty uniform in button layout these days, despite disagreement on where the x goes. Which is the most powerful face button?

I'm starting to look into swapping out the stock joystick and buttons on my 8Bitdo arcade stick with Sanwa parts.
I was wondering if I should go with an octagonal gate — I don't really play fighting games and mostly use it for action arcade games.
Also, any recs on where to buy parts? I was looking at arcadeshock.com or focusattack.com
I like Focus Attack. Free shipping over $55 (US domestic only) + a really generous rewards program. That may not matter to you, though! I’ve modded three sticks over the past couple years so I’ve definitely benefitted lol. You can also find Sanwa parts on eBay and Amazon.

@“safety_lite”#p156922 I was wondering if I should go with an octagonal gate
Try one out! Gates are super cheap and easy to install/replace.
@“Bbtone”#p156928 Thanks — Yea, I figured it was easy enough to swap out if I don‘t like it, so I’ll have both to play around with. Went ahead and ordered a bunch of parts! I mostly wanted quieter buttons, an octagonal gate and a more responsive stick. Really excited to put it together!
I found out Arcade Shock is local to me so I went with them!
The Sanwa buttons, stick and octagonal gate arrived this morning. I swapped them out — it wasn’t too bad (though actually, getting the connections off of the buttons was more difficult than I was expecting O_O).
Everything feels a lot more solid! @"kory"#p120056 was the inspiration for this upgrade, and I definitely agree with less deadzone / wiggle on the JLX-TP-8YT. The OBSFS buttons are a lot quieter as well — a little spongy, but I don't mind for my purposes.
On Saturday, I went deep into a rabbit hole of newly discovered shmup / fight stick subcultures that I never knew existed — I really liked the customization and creativity. I saw the very edges of nuance in discussions around preference and peaced out pretty quickly to avoid getting too in the weeds.
However.. I did learn a little bit more, and just for experimentation's sake… I ordered a wider actuator and stronger tension spring to cut down on travel and mitigate the return time on the stick — though my biggest issue of misregistering inputs on the return to neutral of the original stick seems to be resolved already.

8bitdo upgraded the 2.4g wireless Ultimate controller to have the Hall Effect sticks from the Bluetooth version, and you could get it in a pretty purple which is my weakness (I’m strongly considering getting the pastel pink one too.) And at some point while trying to figure out which control scheme makes the most sense for Sin & Punishment on the MiSTer, I discovered that all you really need to do to make it comfortable to play with a modern controller is make a profile where the left and right sticks are switched (and the shoulder buttons, if you have the N64 buttons mapped in the Wii Pro Controller style like I usually do)!
I tried to see if I could put macros on the rear paddles that would let me dodge left or right with one button press instead of double tapping, but I couldn’t figure out a way that worked reliably
I was watching MKBHD’s video about Disney omnidirectional treadmill and apparently a nunchuck is used to control a smaller version.
So random but i guess using controllers is way cheaper / more effective than building it’s own control interface. Also, a ps4 controller and a steamdeck are shown as control devices on that video.
Have you ever seen things like these on another tech stuff?
Bonus: Katy Perry mic strap is from a Wiimote
Is there any joycon style split controller that works with bluetooth on PC? I’ve tried using actual joycons with betterjoy , but the right joycon in particular disconnects constantly and has very bad input lag when I do get them working.
Joycons are my favorite form factor, and the split design feels so nice when I’m lounging around or using a walking pad at my desk. Would also love if it comes with one of those katy perry mic straps!
Been thinking about those paddles lately. Never used them before, maybe I should.
