Current Events & World Politics

this is the first time i’ve wanted to get back on twitter since I left months ago bc I really want to read the replies

the Mona Lisa was painted by a power bottom

where do Lana del Rey and David Lynch sit in the whole “are they a conservative or are they just joking about all of that Americana stuff?” debate?

Slouching Towards Bethlehem?

Reading is not sufficiently right-wing. The only texts mentioned in this list are texts that serve more right-wing value being gestured to rather than read carefully (Old Testament, New Testament) or that can be enjoyed without being read (the Narnia films, the Lord of the Ring films).

Glibness aside, the idea that there is a structurally cohesive “right wing” that can be projected into the past further than 50-100 years and resemble at all the right wing of today doesn’t work. The only part of this that kind of works is The Apprentice.

Just like the ceiling in the sistine chapel Sonic the hedgehog is beautiful and true :folded_hands:

this is just too dumb to pay any mind. we have only this one brief existence. I say this as a frequent poster on a niche video game forum

Every European city

The European cities I can think of that are strictly right wing creations would be, like, idk, East and West Berlin? Does Leningrad and Stalingrad being renamed to St. Petersburg and Volgograd respectively count?

Oh there’s also Liberland, theoretically…

Modern and explicitly right wing civil planning has a much richer history in North America, like sundown towns for example, or airparks, or places like Whiteclay, Nebraska.

again, try to label the abstract concept of a city as political is hilarious. but….cities are woke! they’re cosmopolitan! centers of trade and culture. these people are supposed to hate the enlightenment of cities, and they certainly are not responsible for the best parts of them.

the examples you posted are much better, as would be a suburb, but i don’t think those would qualify as works of art, at least not that anyone would not want to admit to.

Lol I forgot that the initial goalpost was about works of art. I mean, Austin Taylor disregarded that the initial goalpost was about “good art” which “a right winger made,” which, like, is absolutely an answerable question, I just probably myself wouldn’t attempt to take credit for like the entirety of western history and culture and civilization.

Like shit, we have our resident Mishima lover already in thread

What is that person’s logic in saying that Sonic the Hedgehog is the creation of a right winger? Is it because one of the co-creators was censored by woke for insider trading?

according to @穴 's post, he’s not saying sonic the hedgehog was made by a right winger. he’s saying it’s beautiful and true.

In all seriousness, he’s taking it as a symbol of his innocent youth, before woke politics infected and degraded everything. The politics of the work itself don’t matter too much; just the imagined shared experience of it and what conservative thought can make of that.

So, then, yes, he totally ignored the placement of the initial goalposts, which was to name “one piece of good art a [right wing person or persons] made,” by just projecting right wing political substance on to works of art (and a lot of things that aren’t works of art ofc) based on vibes alone. So just one of those EMBRACE TRADITION greek statue pfp weirdos.

if you want a real answer for a good piece of work made by a right winger…i got your answer right here

Damn… true… although I wonder if those fuckin guys were ever even all that serious about that. Like, if you had no idea that the creators were intending it as Objectivist/Randian fan fic, I feel that 2112 would just read as vague anti-authoritarianism. It’s an ideology that really doesn’t stand up to any sort of scrutiny lol.

Also 2112 bangs…

Sidenote but you know who is no longer a Randian/Objectivist/Libertarian? Penn freaking Jillette. I thought that was very funny

neil was like 22 or 23 when that album came out, so i think it’s safe to say he was not serious about it. (i also just looked it up and he kinda distanced himself from that sort of thinking later on in a very thoughtful manner). it’s just a funny example to bring up. there’s definitely a serious conversation to be had about the individualist streak that runs through punk and heavy metal and whether or not that is inherently “right wing,” but that’s for another day.

i love penn jillette dude. somewhat ironically, somewhat for real. i bought a cameo from him for by friends birthday where i asked him to talk about the black cube under saturn and he went off.

canadaposting again

I’ve always thought of Calgary as a conservative city which is only now sounding like maybe a silly brush to paint the whole town with. So, I went down a small rabbithole of conservatives comparing Calgary to Redmonton for some insight from the other side

Edmonton is full of unions and other freeloaders. … Calgary is [full of] productive corporations

The cities of Edmonton and Calgary with their universities, young people and Trudeau Liberal immigrants [???] are a lot further to the left.

Q: How left wing are Calgary and Edmonton? Are the cities run by left wing radicals like in Toronto?

A: Left wing shitholes

Some of these are really selling me on Calgary, maybe I should visit

there are definitely shitty cities run by and inhabited by shitty people, i was more so saying the “concept” of cities kinda goes against a right wing philosophy as i understand it.

as for me, when i think of calgary, i think of FUBAR

I’m gonna be honest: I wasn’t expecting the city that crucified Jesus to be so progressive.
