  • What a pleasant episode. From this I actually went off to go and listen to Liz's Blood Zone podcast, which spun me off into listening to the Nightmare Masterclass videos on Petscop all weekend (the Ghost Adventures episode was also excellent and just what I needed).

    _What makes horror games fail?_

    Too much action, and a lack of understanding in atmosphere in favor of new tech. I'm still pretty salty at Silent Hill Homecoming. If I recall correctly, there were little to no fixed camera angles to set me at unease, and while the world changing in real time was really cool looking at first, it took a lot of mystery away for the player, and a good chunk of good horror relies on ambiguities and mystery instead of showing you everything.

    _What’s the last game you played for entertainment purposes?_

    The most recent ones almost strictly for entertainment would probably be Devil's Tilt. It's like playing with an elaborate Halloween decoration, it has great FM music, the announcer reminds me of Elvira and the Party Monsters and Bride of Pinbot. Really satisfying game to just let loose on.

    13 Sentinels has stuff I'm looking out for, but that's also pretty much play for just leisure. It's so nicely blocked out with its stories, I could play a couple and put it down, or binge and keep going as long as I want. Most stories don't seem to last any longer than about 10-15 minutes, so it's relaxing almost in the same way as DQXI's scenarios.

    {“sticky”:false}

    oh hey I realized last night what the Rocky Horror Picture Show of video games is: it’s Night Trap! Night Trap was the correct answer, thank you for playing.

    @espercontrol#8405 I remember, doing the Night Trap

    I created an account specifically to share this bootleg haunted house horror videogame name: Tenant Malevolent
