The insert credit squad should formally identify as square enix fanbois. When will they give game of the year to Valkyrie Profile: Elysium - developed by the fine people at Soleil who brought you Wanted: Dead. and Samurai Jack: Battle through Time?
Sorry to de-rail, I know this is a beastie boys thread now.
@“exodus”#p156210 I know, it's because they are cowards.
I'm just joking about all this btw. I just wanted to point out that Soleil made a Samurai Jack game. Isn't that weird? I think it is great that they are Square Enix Fan boys! You are allowed to like things.
the Destiny 2 Companion app isn't requisite to gameplay but it does offer an invaluable tool as a secondary processing platform to rummage through your inventory (and vault), swap weapons between alts, and find LFGs (helpful for solo players). it is, however, critical for anyone on ps4 as the load times to get into *menus* is excruciating and made it impossible to hotswap gear until that got implemented as a feature post-Lightfall.
not using the app is like listening to a yt compressed mp3 of your fav song on a Blackberry's internal speaker
@“Spark”#p156215 it is weird! Soleil is one of those companies that's just kinda shuffling along. I can relate!
@"Lunarchivist"#p156220 I don't remember, maybe something about how destiny is a game where the longer it goes I less understand what people are saying when they talk about it. (too much lore and specific names for things)

Topical for this week's episode, but one-time panel guest, testimonial contributor to this episode, and all-round chill-as-hell video essayist Thorhighheels spoke highly of Valkyrie Profile: Elysium in this video
@“esper”#p155883 Has any game ever had a good mobile tie-in? (51:25)
re whether _World of Warcraft_ has an app that let's you manage various player economy transactions or whatever, _Final Fantasy XIV_ does, and I think I even used it a few times.
...it was also horribly gamified and made you pay extra on your subscription to use the app in all but a limited fashion. I got pretty pissed when I realized the goddamn productivity app for my fake money wanted me to "feed" the "moogles" fuckin' Kupo Nuts or w/e to get them to do things, and they were only gonna give me I think 3 free Kupo Nuts a day or something like that.
Keeping in mind, though, my memories of it are vague even now and it might not be monetized quite like that anymore.
@“thebryanjzx90”#p156275 this is really depressing!
I was thinking quite a bit about this the other day. If anyone has followed me too closely on this forum they'd find quite a bit of Suikoden 2 in here. I played it when I was 12 and 13 years old. It is one of the best games ever. I barely even play videogames but my interest in them and presence on this forum is partially because I'm half coasting on the joy of a game I played 24 years ago. That's pretty impressive. Murayama must have been like 27ish when he made that game. That's bonkers. I'm looking forward to playing Eiyuden.
@“Jaffe”#p155960 It comes from Japan, you know, some very smart people, the Japanese, they call it a “Jay Arr Pee Gee”… it’s a game for losers, a slow game for lonely depressed people to play all alone in their rooms…!
