@“exodus”#p148969 one more note: we 100% publicly know that Microsoft is at least currently working on a new console for sometime close to 2028, as leaked by the activision merger documents. so as of a year ago or so, they're still cookin on this front. lots can happen in four years though, maybe they do drop out and finally fulfill their destiny as Sega 2.

I feel bad for instigating that conversation– I just like thinking about that kind of stuff and hope that there are huge disruptions in our economy, society, etc. so that we can make something better. We all want to be correct– I‘m just having fun without worry of being incorrect or not since it’s all conjecture. On the scale of 50-100-200 years I'm an optimist broadly speaking.

@“exodus”#p148969 Let‘s see. I think degrowth and possibly deglobalization might throw things for a loop in that sense. Maybe I’m wrong and we might be able to develop new technology that may be more affordable, but as things are right now things are looking dicey for consoles.
