Finished this one a couple of months ago. Retro game fan art is the best, I can challenge myself to be interpretive while also staying faithful to the source material.
This is fantastic! It definitely feels true to the vibe of the game.
Dude this is awesome! Here I was embarassed to even post my fanart on this forum.
I like the simplicity of the palette. It really evokes the limitations of old school graphics.
You should post your fan art, I would love to see what you have!
Here’s a Silent Hill 2 piece I did back in 2016. Even though it’s been a while it’s a personal fav
Maybe I will! I think you caught a very pleasing composition with the Silent Hill piece. I can see your technical skills were way behind where you’re at now, but the poses are very gestural and have a good feeling of motion.
Here’s a sort of style study I did when Hades 2 was announced. I was trying to figure out how Jen Zee gets some of the quirks of her art across. Studying Hades art was how I found out that I could approximate local bounce lighting on a character just by colour picking the source.
Some Zenless Zone Zero fanart. The game is way better than it has any right to be. I also maintain that Mihoyo had some best in industry artists and musicians over there.
Never really played this even though I have intense memories of the ads all over Nintendo Power at the time, seeing it at blockbuster, being fascinated etc. But what always sticks out to me is that space bulldog’s enormous bright eyes. Both on the game art itself and in your piece.
Chulip escaped my grasp when it first came out. Is this lore accurate?
Yes, this cover art uses direct quotes and was one of my last big video game fan art projects, reflecting how meaningful and relatable the game was to me.
I love Solomon’s club, having a jump button instead of having to press up is such a huge improvement over the NES game for me. Your drawing makes me want to play it.
@mindleftbody Woah! Very cool! The accurate font is a nice touch. That’s a lucky dog to be sleeping on that chiptune.
After going to Evo this summer i was inspired to start drawing again. Unfortunately my long days at work a d being a father has left me with not much time. But these are what ive done since July when i got home from Evo.
