Fan translations and other contributions that feel essential

Finally updated and retooled my 3DS CFW! Making custom themes.

EDIT: this was meant for the hacks and hardware thread, sorry

Looks like we have lost CDromance, guys. Such a shame that this shit keeps happening. There is a workaround for now but I wouldn't count on it being reliable for very long.

This is awful news. I didn't even get a chance to download the Linda^3 translation. It was such an easy place to get fan translations and rom hacks.

Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you got til its gone. They paved emuparadise and put up a parking lot.

@ā€œJoJoestarā€#p152498 I saw that yesterday and it hurt me bad. That's been my go-to site for years.

Well that sucks ass

Wow no way. Last week i dropped them a few ko-fi bucks for the first time after years of use. They will be sorely missed

there's a workaround. just type the CRD TICKET number on cdromance dot org. a bit annoying but still! I recommend everyone to haul around everything they might feel interested in.

edit: I see it's already been mentioned!! my bad. I wouldn't be *too* pessimistic - emuparadise workaround still works after all these years..

What a shameā€¦ I guess I should finally properly learn how to patch myselfā€¦. :weary::weary:

@ā€œJoJoestarā€#p152498

So many minutes wasted patching every individual fan translation or digging up lost and hard to find ones from forumsā€¦

Just this week I was thinking how a lot of UNDUBS for 3DS are getting really difficult to find but are still up on CDROMANCE

There's a tampermonkey script that adds the download links back via the CRD TICKET workaround

I can see CDromance or archives of it being alive on the semi-long term but only available through TOR or something like that. The downside is getting another barrier of entry to not so dedicated folks.

That being said I'm currently panic downloading some important stuff.

While other stuff is being taken down in the past couple years, at the forefront of my mind I very conciously told myself ā€œAt least there is CDROMANCEā€

@Tradegood There are still translations available on Romhacking.net, including that link for a new one.

Granted you need a disc image, but hope it gives you a chance to play it!

The game, is fuckingā€¦.!

Altar of Melanito is the funniest name I have heard in a while.

here to update for anyone else that cares:

the previous fan translation of Shiren the Wanderer GB that was ā€œmostly completeā€ from 2014 or something has been canned and a new hacking process has begun using the same translated script.

While we are still waiting for the superior version of Linda Linda Linda (ooooh), the English translation of Soul Hackers on the Saturn is almost completed. It is based on the 3DS versionā€™s English script.

My vote is Sweet Home. A wonderful game! I know I'm repeating a few of you here in talking about it, but it was the first fan translated game I had played. After playing Sweet Home I began to explore other Famicom titles, and from there Super Famicom, and so on!
