Honestly nowadays Iād rather own repros than original cd games unless the originals cost about the same as a repro. Just because discs are so fragile itās a liability to me.

Sold off my entire PS2 library and made peace with the fragility of disks. Got a Game Star and never looked back.

Some of the repros Iāve seen online donāt look half bad to be honest. Decent solution for fan translated game if your console can play burn discs. Baroque hadnāt arrived yet because itās being shipped from the US but we shall see.
@meunierd I have this weird fear that some day Iāll have a kid and that kid will completely destroy all my physical games. So I should probably make peace sooner rather than later.

Just curious if youāve seen a Saroo. Much cheaper than a satiator or alternative, but allows you to play off of SD. Not every game is compatible though.
That said as someone who enjoys a having a thing, if the repro is marked as a repro and the seller is making it obvious itās a repro I think itās morally clear, but potentially just a little silly if you have a way to find the file and play it yourself

I should add that for each console I do own at least a couple discs.
I always have ātesterā discs that are usually cheap / kusoge.
But also I have some boxed ones too. Sometimes for nostalgia purposes I do want to insert a dang disc.
Iāve found that the good quality repros on disc are more expensive though!
Woah, uh, apparently the GBA original Gyakuten Saiban aka Phoenix Wright does have a fan translation. Up to case 3 is completed, and itās available for download!! this will be my first time playing this seriesā¦ (though I played a lot of ghost trick back in the day)

I was looking for English translation guides like I used for mother 3 back in the day for ace attorney when I found there was a partial translation.
What do you mean gba headphones? Officially licensed ones were pretty trash most of the time.

The SP removed the AUX jack, so you had to get special headphones that connected to the power/link jack (donāt remember which of the two it was).

The disclaimer on github says it was edited after machine translation and an effort was made to have it all make sense and fit context, so it might be ok.

Editing machine translated text is an interesting way to go about it. Removes some of the grunt work, but preserves some authorial intent. Iām sure things would be inconsistent and there would be some misses, and less diligent people would lean on the machine to much

Yeah, my first thought when reading ārevised machine translatedā was that it would probably be kinda on par with the worst examples of underpayed and rushed translators from the 90s

I feel like I could punch up a machine translated text to read at least okay, but at that point where am I relative to the original? The idea that I have no idea what Iām actually doing to the original text would worry me very much.
