Fighting game is something so great

Also, I'll be online in just a few minutes.

ā€œe8j5rdā€ is our case sensitive room for the night.

Boulevardier Cocktail (Whiskey Negroni) Is the drink of the night.

Good luck to @Karnovski who is going to kick down the door to his locals event today with the same damn dolphin he kept smashing me with on Friday night. I did parry the dolphin once though. That felt good.

thatā€˜s an incredible set-up! Iā€™ll be up for the next fightnight if people don't mind playing against a UK connection (I normally get somewhere between 150-170ms with my friend in SoCal, which works very well for Strive and weirdly enough Tekken 7 of all things)

I won!

@ā€œKarnovskiā€#p94641 HOLY SHIT! Great job!

Congrats! Iā€˜ll try and keep the IC dominance rolling and win SFV at my local tonight. (Iā€™m entering Strive and Tekken as well but I'm far less confident in those.)

@ā€œCreekgrinā€#p94699 who do you play in Sfv?

Who do you play in Strive?

and good luck, dude! May the bracket be in your favor.

@ā€œKarnovskiā€#p94713 Abigail in SFV, and Potemkin/Giovanna in Strive

@ā€œCreekgrinā€#p94718 ooh! Grapplin. V skill 2?

I get bodied by Abigails online usually.

Potemkin I'm finally getting the match up better. I can usually beat the floor 10 Pots now, but some of those grab loops still get me sometimes.

Good luck, if you ever want to play online, I've got sf5 installed still and play Strive on console a lot.

I usually only play online on pc, but with crossplay coming to Strive thatā€˜ll be no issue at all. And a tip if you run up against any Abigails, his anti-air options are quite slow, to youā€™re free to run the mixup game with a jump-in where it wouldnā€˜t be safe with other characters. Even the VS1 parry doesnā€™t come out instantly.

My fighting game discovery this week was that the original Samurai Spirits! for the Neo Geo Pocket is actually very good. It is more streamlined than the sequel and in being an adaptation of SSIV has more of the somber tone I think works well with the series. ALSO and I canā€˜t find evidence of this on the web, but the game does play in a kind of Gameboy on Gameboy Color half colored in mode instead of pure black and white. I donā€™t think I have seen any other of the other NGP games do that.

@ā€œrobinhoodieā€#p94725 this game was the selling point for me on the NGP when it first came out! It's waaaay better than it has any right to be.

@ā€œKarasuā€#p94726 I LOVED the GB version of Shodown as a teen. But it is REALLY rough to go back to. This NGP version hits the sweet spot of feeling the way I remember the old game. It's odd. I would also say the same about SSVI which in its over-the-top-ness feels the way I remember SS2 playing.

@ā€œrobinhoodieā€#p94727 The GB version was pretty brilliant! Then there's SS!2 that I always thought added a bunch of material like unlockable moves that made it feel like its own really well made thing. What it reminds me the most of are the various home ports of SF Zero 3 that added features to the game to make up for the lack of 1:1 animation.

@ā€œKarasuā€#p94735 Ha ha! Itā€˜s funny. I get why Third Strike is peopleā€™s forever game that it is. But SFA3 Upper on the PSP is just mind boggling in terms of HOW MUCH 2D Street Fighter it has on offer. I guess because setting it up as for competitive is difficult / controls on native hardware are awful prevented it from gaining any real traction.

@ā€œrobinhoodieā€#p94736 as a person who stopped playing VS fighting games a long time ago when all my friends stopped playing, and never really picked it up again once other friends started playing them in the last decade, I had a real blast with SFA3 on PSP, especially with all its single player modes and bonus characters (especially Eagle!). I appreciate how weā€˜ve got lovingly emulated SFA3 Vanilla in the SF Anthology, I wish someone would release an updated port of the PSP version on modern consoles. Itā€™s really fantastic!

Iā€˜ve recently started a journal to further explore fighting games with notes, drawings and observations! Itā€™s a lot of fun!

I've been learning Xiaoyu in Tekken 7 recently and I really wanted to draw the Mandala symbol featured on one of her outfits. I didn't have many pens to work with!

I had a lot of fun writing a few combos down and reminding me what learning fighting games is all about!

Learning a few other games and I'm looking forward to seeing how they manifest in the notebook!

@ā€œSyzygyā€#p95987 I only played DNF duel for about 20 hours but Iā€˜m excited to hear about the balance changes and the new character. If they can give Launcher some good quality of life changes Iā€™ll be happy! Boosted defence and higher HP sound like great changes. I hope they do something wild like double or multiply the HP by 1.5 as a means of nerfing the damage without lowering the damage (since theyā€˜ve only really mentioned buffs, this probably wonā€™t happen, but I'd find it very funny). Eager to see what they do and try the game again. Spectre looks like a very cool character!

# Sunday Night Strive Fight Night! (GMT)

## The next Insert Credit _Guilty Gear -STRIVE-_ lobby date is Sunday December 11th, 8 PM GMT/Noon Pacific.

I'm posting that Pacific thing not to brag, but in case I screwed up the time zones so badly that someone needs to correct me.

Last time we had my Overhead-happy Leo, my non IC-poster-but-still-real-friend B.I. bringing Baiken and @Karnovski: champion of the north and winner of Downtown Brawl 9 with May who stopped losing to me once I taught him where the Leo overhead was.

This time we've got @Chopemon calling in from the land of GMT - the **objectively superlative** time zone! Will we have you too?
