I’m trying to colour the unicode character which is an empty outline of a heart. The emoji will not do. I wanted it to look like in the Loopy logo.
also sometimes I just want to drop a unicode heart in my post. I think it looks nicer than an emoji one. imo emoji in general are ugly and have been universally ugly since Android got rid of their flat emoji in favour Apple’s skeuomorphism. I only ever use emoji because part of the fun is how ugly they are and how bought-in grown adults are on the terrible winning design trend that ruined them.
I hear and respect your position (and your cool use-case), but your call out about me being an adult just makes me feel (and I have to type all this to get around the low-character post restrictions ).
And before that they were all black and white! When I got my Nexus 4 there were like a few months where every emoji was completely monochrome and featured Andy (the Android), and then Google updated to the full-colour ones above.
And those aren’t even the good blobs (though they are lightyears better than what we have now)! Those are the blobs post-unification. They originally had different shapes to convey different emotions through posture, which I think is genius.
