What, did you think Armored Core 6 was going to be about fighting?

@“treefroggy”#p98916 came out in december 2000 for Playstation 1
No way, that era of From Software was famous for its strategy of jumping on as early as possible to new hardware while there would be little competition, polish and debugging be damned. If released in December 2000, it would totally be a PS2 game or would have waited for March 2021 (as a GBA game) or September 2021 (on the Gamecube).
@“chazumaru”#p98927 that’s true, I was taking exactly that into account, and that’s exactly why I put it exactly right there, as a last hurrah for ps1 that they never did!
Call it 1999 if you want, but it would have come out in the us in 2000 if it was a 1999 game.
That’s also why I put a PS2 sequel!
BTW-- Evergrace had a planned simultaneous ps1 and ps2 release you know, before they abandoned the ps1 version!
But okay you're right, more likely another ps2 launch window game, honestly wouldn’t be that different lol, just better textures and higher polygon count. But then they’d have to put that much more effort in to all those ps1 assets!
What if we agree to disagree, and call it a Dreamcast game?? 😧😧
I just had a dream I was playing kings field iii. The characters were all accurately textured and faceless like in king’s field.
I was in a cave village where there was a council of giants. The giants looked like stereotypical historically inaccurate white Jesus Christ, but more wide-set like a giant that’s just as wide as they are tall. They showed me their canon.
In my dream I was like *these are the giants of dark souls before they became undead! This explains everything!* lol
It's here!! @everyone @frankcifaldi

show this to anyone who is deathly afraid that AC6 will be too soulslike
THIS is what soulslike AC looks like, lol.
the 3rd person foundation of demon‘s souls was practically built on this to begin with, the line was already crossed long ago and it’s all same same, but different
@“treefroggy”#p100965 Hmmm but the team of Frame Gride is the one that left for Feelplus/AQi to make Lost Odyssey, Soul Sacrifice, Dæmon X Machina etc. The Tsukuda team, basically. None of them were at From Software around the time of Demon’s Souls development.
@“chazumaru”#p101044 nice, thanks for that info. there were also many AC games after Frame gride that led up to demon‘s souls. My point is that King’s Field is Armored Core is Demon‘s Souls is Armored Core 6. Frame Gride is a branch that may not have continued directly, but anyone who is complaining about AC6’s direction needs a dumb example like this to remind them there‘s a lot more going on than “you got souls in my armored core :((”, there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and FS has a clear idea of the separate identities of their franchises. they've always mixed ideas around while maintaining that identity.
Back to Elden Ring, after not touching the game for more than half a year this was a fun way to remember the game: https://lostgamer.io/elden-ring
It‘s a geoguesser game using Elden Ring’s map. It started out pretty easy but then suddenly it started taking away the ability to move the camera around. But it was still doable and a fun little brain teaser.

I'm going to say each of my guesses was “close enough”. That was cool
From Software's Spriggan for Playstation is yet another game that could be considered a proto-Soulslike before Evergrace.

Release date
June 17, 1999
this is why I like to imagine what a year 2000 From Software output on Playstation 1 could be like.

Spriggan is close to what the Evergrace PS1 prototype probably looked like

Spriggan is sometimes considered a kusoge, maybe I'd call it a 7/10
Their first licensed game, they viewed it as something that should be made to be simple, to FS I guess that meant they threw in some cheap deaths.
@“treefroggy”#p102099
Spriggan is an incredible game that actually has a very fun control scheme. Calling it a kusoge is a huge disservice, it has a lot of content, it has cheesy anime style characters and plot, you get a huge variety of environments to explore and solve through, and even an almost luxurious benefit of 3 different paths to build your character on with unique animations and movement patterns for each. The muscle suit lets you choose power (fists), defense (firearms) or speed (knife) with each having a set of 3 tiers that boost your capabilities. You don‘t even really need to understand Japanese to play it and it’s one of those games that gains a surreal sort of mystical enjoyment from brute forcing it in the appropriate state of mind, gathering your sense of what‘s happening by imagining it from what’s on screen. I like it about 80 or 90% as much as I like Ghost in the Shell which is honestly a solid 10/10 videogame. In fact, I like the feeling of playing it more than any particular souls game with all their bullshit i-frames. That's right, i-frames are stone cold poopoo.
Now Eternal Ring, that's a god damn kusoge. I love the weird ass ending but hell that game is like half a game with arcane systems that it never ever pays out on.

Haha, nice, welcome to the forum
not touched sekiro for a few days
beat ||owl|| first try
no resurrections
i shouted ||“fuck you old man!!!”|| in my living room
this is the furthest i've ever gotten lol
>
@“rootfifthoctave”#p104430 “fuck you old man!!!”
I think that is 100% the feeling they were going for, lol
I don't think I had as much trouble with any other fight in the game as I did that one.
he's such a slimeball
