Game different.

Lost Crown, RoboCop: Rogue City and Control all also coming to macOS!

lmao, what a punchline.

I got my hopes up for an AS-native FFXIV port announcement in time for the graphical overhaul coming with Dawntrail. The community-written launcher is amazing but I’m so scared of my performance in the game tanking with the update.

Anyway, announce an Apple search engine already, Federighi.

Honestly as neat as it is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be playable on the M4 iPad, I’m more impressed by the calculator app with math notes.

Yeah!! That looked wild. I wonder how well it will actually work.

I don’t know how I feel about the handwriting-cleanup. I’m not in school anymore so I have no idea how many student are actually hand-writing their notes on an iPad—I don’t see how that could possibly be faster than typing or even writing on real paper. I also wonder what comic letterers might think about it.

Also lol at the AI cleanup Nikolai Yezhoving that guy from the beach photo.

Haven’t had a chance to do much more than browse the site but this is amazing. Source ports of all sorts of older games.

So I’ve downloaded a bunch of these but haven’t had a chance to fire them up with the exception of DREAMM. That will run a bunch of Lucasarts games. I popped a Dark Forces disc into a drive and DREAMM installed it from the disc. It looks like its just runs the DOS version. Will report further as I try things out.

If someone wanted to look up edutainment games that would have been on school iMacs and Macintosh computers in the late 1990s and early 2000s, where would one go? That’s my main gaming experience on Macs, and so many of those games I don’t remember the name of.

The ones I do remember:

  • Sim Farm: I mainly remember putting my 50 or so minutes in class into raising strawberries
  • Oregon Trail: one fo the later editions (II, III) that had a crosshair mouse cursor when hunting
  • Number/Word Munchers: absolute classic. The Prime Number Munchers taught me my prime numbers.
  • Exile: Spiderweb Software would publish on Mac first and then port to PC. I figured out how to run one of the demos on a school computer. Might have been 2

More source port progress. Got Unreal Tournament running using files from the disc. I have discs for several of the games that I’d like to get running. Can’t get Return to Castle Wolfenstein or AvP going yet and my Mac copy of Quake III can’t be read by my current setup. May need to install that on an older Mac and grab the files that way.

Thanks for sharing! I installed Half-Life as a test and it runs great. Really easy setup, too. Text size and menu have some issues, but not really a huge deal for this particular game.

Excited to see if I can get some of the old mods running.

Edit: The lack of a developer’s console in the WON-version of Half LIfe might be an issue with the mod I wanted to try out : /

Anyone else here only have a family Mac, and use wineskin to make the most horrid ports? I will never forget my wineskin port of 10 fps skyrim.
