Can’t help but read this in the voice of Gordon Cole.
it’s an interesting mod and a valiant effort but I found it tough to look at visually and perhaps over-full of stuff. But others may get into it, it’s got that crackpot appeal. Didnt induce any goos-bumbs. Vox Populi for Civilization V is pretty good though I think I’d endorse that one
Anyone checked out this Neva game? I played Gris and while it felt beautiful there wasn’t much to the act of playing it in a way that I kind of bounced off of for a platformer. This new game from them looks interesting.
I’m trying to decide if I should try Nine Sols or if I’ll end up bouncing off of it like I have several of the other ‘soulslike metroidvanias’ (lol at jamming two reductive terms together) recently. It’s one of those things where if it was a few bucks cheaper I’d just go for it but it’s expensive enough to make me hesitate! I’m not much of a souls person at all and I feel as though I have less and less patience as time passes for the boatloads of metroidvania games that are coming out just about daily. That said, this one looks really amazing. I guess there’s no way for me to tell without trying it!
i’m in the same boat as you and have decided to “wait for the sale”
Nine Sols is my current GOTY but it does take a few hours to really get going. Much like Hollow Knight, you don’t get all of the movement and combat techs until after the first few bosses.
Kinda thinking about giving Sonic X Shadow Generations a spin. I’ve never played any Sonic game before which feels like a gap both in video game knowledge and just pop culture knowledge in general. It feels like a big oversight for me
The game is getting good reviews and is built around a game that people already seem to like. Plus, as a newcomer, it looks like it’ll give me a mix of both 2D and 3D Sonic so that’s cool too
:0
The first rule of Sonic games is you can’t trust public opinion (positive or negative), only your own gut can tell you the TRUTH about hedgehog and friends. Hope you have a good time with it but don’t let it dissuade you from trying others if you don’t
Oh boy am I jealous of you. Sonic is my favorite series of all time since I was a wee lad and I’m so jealous of someone who gets to just dive into the deep end of 30 years of Sonic.
Long story short, Sonic X Shadow is turning out to be a great game so far. Not just a great Sonic game, but a great game overall, imo. With Frontiers and now the Shadow portions of this, I think Sega is finally figuring out how to make a good/fun platforming game in the 21st century. The controls are spot on and the level design is fun and varied.
So yeah, I think if you’re a fan of action and/or platformer games, give it a shot! And the price is great too!! The original Sonic Generations is a great game in its own right, but it came out a little over a decade ago and the controls haven’t aged as well as I’d have liked compared to some of the newer entries. Still a fun game and defintely worth your time!
I’m having a real bout of weird feelings about Metal Slug Tactics, and while I think it’s likely it’s not for me, that won’t stop me from asking if anyone here has played it (and if so, what they think).
I feel as though the team that made it didn’t quite get the brief about the look and feel, especially as far as the character portraits go.
But I mostly play older Metal Slug for the lush sprite work, so absent that I’m not sure why I’d play it?
I played the demo when it was available a couple months or so back. I was very excited for the game, but came away from the demo unimpressed. The game did a bad job communicating what things do, so I never felt like I was properly coordinating and positioning units cause I was a bit lost. The Steam demo didn’t have controller support and the default keyboard and mouse controls weren’t intuitive to me.
My biggest hangup was that it just didn’t do anything that translated the frantic run ‘n’ gun feel of Metal Slug to the tactical format, making it sorta just feel like a tactics game with a Metal Slug skin. There seemed to be a thought of translating Metal Slug into the format because characters will receive bonus defense the more tiles they move, but nothing that meaningfully effected the actual core mechanics. I think they should’ve cribbed the notes of Persona 5 Tactica and made movement and action more free flowing.
Gotcha, thanks! Honestly that was generally just the feel I was getting from reviews and gameplay videos. They almost had me because I generally like tactics games (even mediocre ones) but I’ve got enough in my queue that I don’t need one more average game.
There’s still another forty-four hours before the release of future GOTY winner Rise of the Golden Idol.
I cannot play this game yet, but I am definitely thinking about playing it.
I just wrapped up Natsu-Mon (highly recommend it btw) and I think I’m more-or-less done picking at UFO 50 (also recommended) and I’m looking for something else to start up on Steam Deck. I’ve got a couple weeks off at the end of the year so I’m thinking I’m gonna move my PC in front of the TV and dive into Metaphor when that rolls around.
I’m looking at that XSEED sale and seeing Loop8 for $10. Is it worth picking up? I know it’s supposed to be a Gunparade March spiritual successor and that has me interested, but the reviews are across the board pretty abysmal. Art style seems really nice though.
Hmm.
I just got a big urge to play Azure Dreams.
Never played it before though!
I just remember looking at the box for the gbc version a whole lot.
But something in me really, really wants to play the psx version right now.
tempted to pick up Farming Simulator 25 bc it has some sick new stuff ,specifically: expanded greenhouse functionality, better farmhand AI, a more detailed farm animal system, the major addition of rice (used to have to use mods for this), and also spinach now has unique features. But Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is out in less than a week and I only have so much free time
ah fuck it I cant resist
NO I have to be strong
Currently obsessed with South of Midnight from Compulsion Games. Currently doing everything in my power to ensure their PR is in constant contact with me regarding interviews and such. Looks to be a phenomenal game in like with Tales of Kenzera: ZAU.
