That is music to my ears. I very excited to play it. I’m currently downloading it. But for some reason I’m having trouble with disk 3. It’s probably vpn releated. Also, I will skip the first Suikoden. I even remember hearing that I should do that back in the day.

In addition to the other games, I’ll plug Legend of Legaia, which is my kind of weird - the world is devastated at the start, and you get to explore that.
It has magic system that is kind of a monster collector, and up/down/left/right attack input sort of like Xenogears but with more meat.
Also, the graphics are closer to Final Fantasy VII - the chibi-fies 3D for the town/over world models works really well here.

After playing a couple turn based RPGs with those cute little button timing things in them Clair Obscur is calling to me. I have mistrust of RPGs with good graphics and full voice overs in this day and age because I fear that with that much money on the line the story is going to be milquetoast at best and filled to the brim with schlocky attempts to make me feel something at worst.
EDIT: It’s on PC game pass so I guess I’ll play it.

I’m playing it and I’m at the 30th day. I like It very much, since It has the same percentages of 13 Sentinels, but Kodaka and Uchikoshi are the ones driving the engine and the tactic RPG is 100 times more compelling (the more you juice the Mechanics, the more you’ll enjoy It).
If you hate shonen or Kodaka tropes you might suffer, specially at the beginning.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is $9.59 on the Playstation store. I’ve never played an Ace Combat, or really any games about flying anything at all. Is it a good one to start with? Are these games good? Not that I would be playing it anytime soon either way.

I haven’t played 7 but 4 was my jam on PS2. They’re all relatively standalone arcadey fun. 7 is a return to the 4 and 5 style. It looks like it rips.

AC7 rips, it’s really good. i still think the fantran of AC3 Electrosphere JP is the coolest ace combat game overall but as a dogfighter AC7 is kind of the best there is rn. you could make an argument for project wingman maybe but it doesn’t have the same soul

i know you bought it already but yes, you should play it. the previous titles have little to no bearing on the next ones other than some lore and sometimes returning characters, so any game is a great starting point

Didn’t notice all this going on until all this time later, but I gotta toss in Wild Arms!! Such a beautiful + charming game that knows how to pull it punches using standard RPG vocab. Guardian’s Crusade is another great one for similar reasons.

To be fair I’ve come down with a cold so I’ve been recovering in bed playing. But you’ve 100 percent nailed it with the 13 Sentinels feeling - you just want to keep playing to know where the story goes.
