@“exodus”#p80238 oh yeah, my hope is it’s an ESL speaker writing what they think an ad for their own car would be. It’s even got a tagline! The earnestness lifts me.
Specifically, it’s a Toyota Granvia:

And if that decal _is_ mass produced, I need it for my laptop
@“Salloumi”#p80263 among MR2 owners “Man In Dandism” is sort of a meme because of the ad copy on a set of floor carpet inserts [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/VraAClg.png]
A few days ago, my four-year-old had the kind of tantrum that four-year-olds tend to have, and in the flailing and kicking cloud of chaos that ensued, she managed to punch me, accidentally but with great force and accuracy, in the… area, causing much pain and distress.
One trip to the doctor later, it turns out an actual injury has occurred. Doctor's advice: _keep the affected area 'raised'_. I don't have any helium balloons, so I'm now in bed with painkillers and an ice pack.
ps i am now terrified because i survived my first child being four years old with my bathing suit area largely intact, but my second child is only three and has already begun swinging limbs with reckless abandon. time to start wearing a cup at all times.
it didn't occur to me until watching _The Rehearsal_ that there are people out there that really don't like any references to satanic stuff, now i'm thinking that weird vibes i've gotten from shop staff recently might be down to this silly tote bag.
@“rootfifthoctave”#p84850 a fundamentalist christian coworker stormed out of my wedding because the band played a Cure song, telling anyone who would listen that he would not tolerate satanic music at such a sacred event.
my kids are seven and three, so they‘re old enough that i’ve been trying to get them interested in different kinds of music. they love the Bluey soundtrack, which is actually decent! shockingly decent, in the context of a kids‘ show OST. (well, lowkey here i am recommending the Bluey OST lol. didn’t intend for that to happen, but here we are.)
anyway, they've sort of been ho-hum about most stuff i've tried. The Beatles, k-pop (mainly Twice), old-school hip hop, jazz. so far they've been most interested in classical and metal.
but they've never gone nuts for anything until i played them some songs from the Cowboy Bebop OST. specifically, Chicken Bone by Sydney and Sister R, and Mushroom Hunting by Seatbelts. they love these songs in particular, and sing them frequently!

what does this mean? how do i keep this momentum going?
EDIT: i also think both of these songs rule, for the record.
I installed a third panel this week! tons of power! don‘t have to worry about bad weather anymore! when we move to PNW we will amass a large array of panels.
the goofy part is my mounting process. it’s very jank, but also extremely sturdy. hiway safe. gale force winds safe. DIY using dumpstered lumber. love it.
keep it looking dingy on the outside so nobody expects what's on the inside (glory)
lol today i wore my Metroid t-shirt to work for the first time, and the first guy to comment on it said, “whoa, Metroid? what is that, some sort of Gundam or something?”
@“whatsarobot”#p86065 You are a very good father and your kids will grow up having excellent taste, regardless of what they end up getting into.
Here's a very biased list of stuff that isn't really the same as either of the two Cowboy Bebop songs you shared, but maybe has some of the elements your kids liked about them:
Eccentric Person Come Back to Me by Masae Ohno (and really the whole album it's from, Masae a la Mode):

Kyoko Koizumi's album Beat Pop

Dontaku by Sadistic Mika Band

I Will Call You by Melon (former Plastics members reformed in New York, working with such pioneers as Bernie Worrell from Funkadelic)

Tighten Up by YMO, which maybe isn't child-appropriate since it's referencing Western stereotypes of Japanese people that your kids probably aren't familiar with, but it is still such a great sounding song:

Oh and I'm going to recommend what @"bwood"#982 just recommended to me the other day, because it is great and also immediately reminded me of Cowboy Bebop, though less so the specific two songs your kids like:

@“saddleblasters”#p86870 wow, this is awesome! thanks! i‘m not familiar with any of these songs, so i’m excited to explore them for myself, and with my kids!
they are so cute that when I end up getting one i keep it for as long as I can. I just like carrying little axolotls with me. sometimes I pay for stuff in inconvenient ways just to keep my axolotls. right now i got 4 of them with me that I haven't spend in a long time.
