I always appreciate bands that are trying to do something new, even if it doesn’t work for me. Opeth’s discography is great in that I like it all to some degree. If you want more heavy stuff since you left off with Ghost Reveries, check out Watershed!
Checking out the stuff you mentioned now. Joint Custody is the type that I don’t think I’d listen to much normally, but if I were to see them at a local show, I’d have a damn good time. The breakdown into the solo and then outro starting around 2:30 slaps.
I won my workplace’s chili cook off with a vegan chili this year! (Much to some old timers’ chagrin) It was my first time competing as well Coworkers thought it was a neat, innocent name for a vegan chili.
It’s rich, velvety, and delicious. I highly recommend going with a homemade chili powder like the author recommends and links. I also added some flour to make it a bit thicker.
i posted this in another one of our million music threads yesterday, but figured i’d repost here since there’s quite a bit of “heavy music” on my yearly playlist.
just a bunch of songs i found myself listening to in 2024, both old and new. not ranked or anything.
Or the original movie it’s based on, Heavy Trip? It looks like a live action Dethklok movie which (for most of it’s run) is not a bad thing with a hint of Spinal Tap (again, not bad at all). I am just worried it’s made to be a commerical look at the metal scene, rather than an homage which I want it to be.
There was loads more but some of it was pricey. Like the cirith ungol and forbidden albums (and the other fates warning that was there). Looks like an old metalhead divested themselves of their riches.
I’ve never heard that samson/Dickinson album. Seems an odd pairing, which I will find out soon!
I’m curious about that Samson one, as I don’t recognise the title. Bruce Dickinson was one of their first singers so I’m guessing the release is based on when he had joined Maiden and they were taking advantage of that. Any chance when you listen I could have a gratuitous cover shot of the sleeve for the release date please?
Very moving video and showed a level of respect allowing him to say goodbye from touring the way he did. Hard to believe he had a stroke and still managed to play drums, let alone a world tour. That’s a drummer!
