one thing I’ll say for them is at least they didn’t recast megumi hayashibara. that would’ve been a real bad plan!
The second episode sure didn’t let me down on the sweets! And the way they portray how people eat sweets as a signifier of the kind of person they are is also top-notch!
I’m just gonna assume this is one of those misophonia nightmare anime and I should steer completely clear?
There weren’t any actual eating noises (at least not that I could detect)! I should have been more serious and said that some people eat cake precisely and some people eat it messily, but very little of the actual eating is shown.
I’m not sure it’s a recommend from me just yet, since there are only two episodes out so far! But it’s pretty interesting so far in that it’s a kind of deconstruction of mystery solving. I’m just curious where it goes, and what the hinted at backstory is!
I assume they talk while eating though!
I can’t remember exactly? But I think it’s possible, so yeah, probably best to skip it!
Didn’t caught that, but you are totally right. I found really weird how someone was eating their cake, but now that you point it, it totally fits.
@exodus i’m pretty sure there are no instances of people eating with their mouths full, but there is an instance of someone licking the wrapper full of chocolate, but no noises that i can remember.
As for animes I don’t know, I think the only one that I might be watching apart from Dedede Destruction is going to be the second cour of NieR: Automata. It’s been a smart adaptation for what I’ve seen, since they are refocusing all the material and trying to put a nice spin onto things that wouldn’t be as appreciated in a videogame form.
The anime that I’ve been watching is the Elusive Samurai. The first two chapters have been something truly compelling, treading nicely between humor and the drama and gore that comes along with war atrocities. I think that this is also the first time I’ve seen such a brilliant animation team been held back by the original material, which is something bewildering to me, and I also have to say there are some match cuts made in heaven, honestly. It might be one of the best animes of the year if they keep up with the animation and the color palette they’ve been having so far (the most beautiful I’ve seen in anime at least).
Take a look here:
My personal recommendations are all manga tho. Some have anime (Kyou Kara Ore Wa) in that list.
I’m watching the apothecary diaries now, and enjoying it for the most part. I just want to make sure that maomao maintains her disinterest in the long haired fella? I like that she’s basically aromantic and hope that stays that way. If it becomes a plot point I’ll probably lose interest so best to know now!
I regret to inform you it seems to be going that way pretty hard. Particularly in current manga arc. The question is always there of if Mao Mao is interested in anything at all, but it certainly is going that way with Jinshi.
Boooooo well time to switch to something else lol. It’s not bad, just disappointing! (that said if it doesn’t go that way in the anime maybe it’s fine)
Yeah. For the whole run thus far still has all the same stuff that makes it nice. Your pref!
The anime is safe on that front, but i guess it is because the scaredy cat reaction of Maomao is so good they can’t have it dissapear.
I’m of the same opinion, the current dynamic is excellent and one that you almost never see in anime or manga.
The closest you’d fine for that would be probably Hyouka.
I finished The Woman called Fujiko Mine and it is so flipping good. Incredible art and a whole lot of fun and it even felt like I was watching a lot of the weird experimental projects I saw in film school at times. Cool series. Going to study the art frame by frame on a couple eps now.
Also while the first episode is pretty decent, the rest are better. It’s got some things going on to try to get buy in that funnily enough didn’t work for me.
Mononoke Movie: Karakasa comes out tomorrow in Japan!!
(Am I mistaken or is that Lotus Juice I hear in the trailer?)
We got any Mononoke heads itt? Medicine Seller fans?
I started watching Golden Kamuy last night! Four episodes in and I’m enjoying it a lot more than last time (part of that whole thing was that the app I was using to watch it last time kept defaulting to English dub, which was distracting). I’m still not a huge fan of some of the grotesque character designs or the gross out scenes, but I am really enjoying the window into Ainu culture. My only hesitation is that I wonder how much consultation went on with actual Ainu folks, or if it was just academics. There’s also a huge quality difference in the animation from scene to scene, including some truly unfortunate CG animals.
Anyway I know I’m late on this one and it was in previous years’ best of lists, so hopefully I won’t bounce off of it.
I golden kamuy and if the cgi ever gets too much to bear check in on the manga
I forget why I stopped golden kamuy. it was either animals sounds, eating sounds, or the implications that the 12 year old should marry the 35 year old.
