Loads of cool stuff here that I’m going to check out. Apologies if any of the below have already been mentioned but consider them a seconding; a few of these may be on other platforms but I’ve played them on PC.

So many games, so little time
This question got me digging around on Steam, and now I’m about to buy Jet Set Radio and/or The Typing of the Dead.
Hylics and its sequel are cool too.
I’m surprised no one has said Pizza Tower yet.
Let me: PIZZA. TOWER.
now that’s a bad kid game
Here are some upcoming games I’ve got on my wishlist, because by the time you play a fraction of the other recommendations, they’ll (maybe!) be here!
(Sorry if some have already been posted)
Mouthwashing is worth a look! It just came out, and is a great spooky addition for October. Double check it if you’re into non-linear storytelling.

enjoy your personal computer!!
There’s a Turn-Based RPG sale on Steam right now, and I just discovered they remastered and ported the Dept. Heaven games Riviera the Promised Land and Yggdra Union and they’re already on sale!
FINAL FANTASY XIII is on sale for $6.39. L’Cie if you Like It!
I’m kind tempted to pick up a couple games that have been on my wishlist for a while…
There’s the Ogre Battle-like squad tactics RPG Symphony of War which has outstanding reviews
Telepath Tactics, a fire emblem/shining force inspired srpg with destructable environments and a campaign editor
Path of the Midnight Sun, a former Fire Emblem romhack with Etrian Odyssey-style combat and Ace Attorney-inspired first person exploration and a whole voiced visual novel with romance. Seems like an interesting combination of things
I haven’t played Ogre Battle yet but this game piqued my interest because of the reviews 2 years ago or so and I really loved it. The story is nothing to write home about but it does its job. The squad-based tactics gameplay was really fun. Loved playing with the squad compositions. Definitely recommend it.
Explorative action platformer Environmental Station Alpha just got a shiny new version with bug fixes, 60 FPS support (it was locked at 55 in the old codebase lol), achievements, and Steam Deck compatibility. (Also they finally fixed the Mac version! This is the PC thread, though.)
I adore this game. Chill vibe, great soundtrack, some all-time favorite bossfights, super engrossing postgame—it’s good stuff. I goblin chugged it while I was at my parents’ for Christmas a few years back. Thirty-six hours in just over a week. Some nights I’d play 'til five in the morning. Reprehensible behavior.
I also didn’t get a gaming PC till about 5 years ago – I still play on console if I can, but you could so easily live on steam. to focus on the games that aren’t current or all-time classics but still pretty cool that are (at least in 2024) easiest to just play on steam and haven’t been mentioned yet (sorry if they were and I missed them), here are a few more
And all the Ys games – they just got all those Ys games in one nice place over there, it’s good. If you don’t have anywhere else to play them, steam is also just swimming in super cheap Neo Geo and (kinda janky but dirt cheap and overall fine) Dreamcast-era Sega games
