This is not necessarily a contest, but more like a weekly monthly art challenge/show-and-tell. The plan is to introduce a new prompt every Sunday the first day of each month to make a piece of art to. To participate, you can simply post anything from a drawing, sculpture, crochet, animation, writing, a sick beat, heck, why not even a cake! You can post whenever you’re finished, and I’m sure none will mind if you’re a bit late as this thread is all in good fun. Heck, if you’re loving the prompt, post more than one! Send any suggestions you think would be fun to do in the next week, if you have any fun ideas!

Last month’s I forgot to start an art jam thread because I'm that absent minded, we could say i took June's prompt "slow" way to literally, this month the insert credit art jam returns 3 days late as is tradition because there's something wrong with my time perception!! Shout-out to @"antillese"#59 for reminding me it's already august!

This month's prompt is a throwback, it was suggested on [the new art jam prompt suggestion form](https://forms.gle/MhGUDxTHE8ANbxpE7 ), this month’s prompts is:

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
_purple (part II)_

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I thought this was a cool prompt! Make of it what you will!

You can read a more detailed introduction of the Art Jams 2.0 and see the amazing stuff y’all came up based on the previous prompt on the thread(s) linked below:

Someone please write, direct, and produce, “Purple: The Sequel” while I struggle with some kind of nonsense this month. Glad it’s back! Thanks for organizing @“穴”#p80679 !

I vow to contribute this time. I will hold myself accountable and everyone will ahve to see my dumb art

It's hard to use a color for a prompt for music, but then I remembered FM synthesis sounds purple (I have a truly marvelous demonstration of this proposition which this margin is too narrow to contain).

@“TracyDMcGrath”#p80843 Tracy - I don't know how you compose something of this quality so quickly. This is great.

I ordered a Hori arcade stick for the ps5, and one of its rad features is that artwork can be slipped in willy-nilly. I’ve been wanting to try designing something in a memphis punk vein and I figured this is the perfect canvas for that. For me Memphis design blasts out juxtapositions of color, shape and texture that are jarring in a fun way. Similar to descriptions of purple prose, memphis design is hilariously superfluous and indulgently ornate. I kept that idea of purple in mind while making these. Thanks for spending time with them!

And if these designs were pop flavors, this one feels like mountain dew to me…

@“biff_stallion”#p81212 these look amazing!

@“TracyDMcGrath”#p80843 this slaps

Yo! Thank you @“TracyDMcGrath”#p81217 I had a blast making them! It’s fun to make compositions knowing where buttons and hands engage with the board.

Edit: goofed up the tagging

These are all cool, but I like this grape Fanta one best.

@“biff_stallion”#p81212 These are amazing. If you ever do one for the Hori RAP-N let me know!

@“RubySunrise”#p81280 Thanks! I definitely resonate with your assessment of this one being the grape fanta composition.

@“antillese”#p81281 Hey thank you! PM me your email and we can chat about it :+1:

I have a double submission! Or rather, a single submission doing double-duty.

This is the result of my very first time messing around with the knobs and dials in video & audio editing, inspired by the likes of Racer Trash and the 2nd generation of wave editors that has arisen in its wake.

Both the timing of posting and the content form my submission to the _[Slow](https://forums.insertcredit.com/d/1552-insert-credit-art-jam-20-june-2022-slow)_ artjam, and my futzing about with colours is somewhat of an attempt to massage it towards this here **_Purple_** one.

Here is my slow, purple waving of _Sway_:

I mean this sorta counts as it has purple in the title font. My little sister's birthday was coming up and she is a big mother 2 fan. I looked at these diorama cube things, decided I hated the paper on cardboard look of most of them, so designed and lasered one in acrylic and hand painted. Took a heeluva lot longer than anticipated, but her and her Earthbound-obsessed spawn loved it, so mission accomplished [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/3mF6VvV.jpeg]

@“rejj”#p81855 Cranked up the Adult Swim vibes at the 1:27 mark!

@“malidextrious”#p81885 Nice! I like the textured background bits.

Not jam related but here is the latest fragmentary writing exercised I managed to squeeze out, after great agony, for my class. The prompt was “brainstorm a series of sentences in the format ‘if hadn’t [Y], then they wouldn‘t have [Z]’ and turn one of them into a page”. I got one vague idea and sort of let my unconscious do the writing.

idk how good or bad it reads to the eyes of like, literate people. My instructor liked it.

Should probably also mention that the content is fairly gross/unpleasant so maybe not recommended if you find acute mental illness to be an upsetting topic

Critical feedback very much welcomed

@“2501”#p82152

Well, at the very least, I would read the rest of that story if there were more. (Not sure if you actually had more planned, or if you were just engaging in the classic trick of saying there's a secret without having any idea what the secret is supposed to be.)

I thought you did a good job of making Hubert into an interesting character, even without letting us see him doing anything yet -- which I suppose is a direct result of putting him at the end of a long chain of the 'if [X] hadn’t [Y], then they wouldn’t have [Z]' sentences. Maybe one of the reasons your instructor liked it was that you didn't just do the exercise, but you employed it as a technique to make a character feel interesting and important.
