I hate the angle up guy with all my soul
he has become my sworn enemy by the end of this week
i hate how that one girl blocks everyone but the debuff brothers
Yeah I hate angle up guy. I spike down when I hit him to try combo into specials but I just restart most of the time. Block girl actually can lead to super duper specials.
I am so bad at the game I suggested!! My highest score is around 5k but I never screencapped it because I was like “I will do better” lol
Just let out the most exasperated “Nooooo” just now, I was on such a good pace too!
It’s strange playing this nearly 20 years later and thinking “finally, I understand what I’m meant to do here”
Starting to understand how to specifically not hit the green glasses girl. Don’t quite know how to earn specials yet.
Not sure how it plays with other browsers but this game is surprisingly playable on mobile. At least for me
I’m on Firefox and I just hit the rotate button and it enters full screen. Gonna be a good time waster this following week.
its annoying you can’t hit the menu buttons in game but if a run is going slow and bad u can just refresh the tab
i got my 9k high score on my phone during a break from class lmao
I used to call him “GAH” back in the day because it was his SFX. It was changed at some point but to me he’ll always be Gah.
I was bouncing happily at like 90 m/s but then got sniped by glasses girl. Alas, I missed the 5 figure club.
I got that 13k score on like my second attempt and haven’t even got close since.
I need to keep at it and try to at least get into 5 figure club but I would also love if we do another score attack that has shorter runs like this game just feels better to do 5 one minute runs than 1 five minute run if that makes sense
Personally I’d also be cool with longer runs like some proper arcade shooters where we compare our progress… stuff like that can be motivating too!
Some expert tips:
Summary
- Kez is correct, it is best to hit at as close to straight ahead as you can with obviously max power. The NPCs at the start are completely random so you might as well see if you can get some boosts straight away or restart immediately if you hit either of the pesky guys. Also use your downward spike ASAP.
- try to find a mirror that shows the guy’s current velocity in real time, expressed in metres per second. There are two modes which you can switch between in the top left, one shows his real velocity in whatever direction he’s currently careening and one is purely the horizontal velocity.
- a strong hit right at the start goes at a horizontal velocity of about 25m/s to 28m/s, so if your first couple of interactions dips you below that you might as well restart. Velocity is cumulative so good runs more or less depend on reaching a high velocity quickly.
- you have control over only two things after the initial crash, the usage of two kinds of boosts, the upward angled launch, and the downward angled one. You get three total of the former in any run, while the latter recharges throughout a run whenever the guy is in a specific vertical section of the screen, denoted by the percentage in the top left. They’re both usable only when the guy is on screen and only within a certain fairly narrow vertical section, around the treeline in the background. Furthermore, the upward one is only usable when the guy’s trajectory is downward toward the ground, and the spike is only usuable when the guy’s trajectory is up, essentially after bouncing or being boosted by one of the girls.
- you can see when either are usable because the icon in the top left will be either red for the upward boost or blue for the downward spike (or gray whenever neither are usable). Sorry colourblind folks.
- this is not that fun but because horizontal velocity is cumulative and only reduces whenever the guy bounces off the ground or hits one of the guys, it’s generally considered meta to blow all of your upward crashes whenever you reach a good speed and keep him in the air for as long as possible once you do. If you think you can finesse it and avoid hitting certain NPCs by saving the upward boosts, you’re either not going fast enough or you have the reflexes of a God. So you might as well use them to go faster once you get a good run going.
- the NPCs are purely RNG so success is highly based on luck.
Good luck!!
