Insert Net: IC Online Games Club

playing Webfishing with the forum week by week is an absolute delight and I wanted to gauge interest in doing similar semi-regular web outings.

would love to rotate between the latest viral hotness and abandoned/dead games to keep it fresh!

for the first game I’m suggesting Flyknight!

next monday feb 17th would maybe be ideal timing for me to knight as a fly

I’ll say that let’s try to always stream one pov on the ic adjacent discord for games that have player limits or people that don’t own the games we play.

Sounds fun, I need to catch up with more dungeon crawlers

huh…TIL that other thread I shied away from clicking on was not about literal actual IRL fishing

anyway, this looks fun!

Cool idea! I could probably do some gaming next Monday and this looks like an interesting one.

What a coincidence! I just bought Flyknight. I’ll try and make it down

OKAY

I played through the tutorial to get a feel of the game and it’s great! You need to complete the tutorial and enter the caves to unlock the multiplayer.

I can open a lobby and send some steam info whenever some folks want to group up!

Wait this already happened? I thought there was going to be like a set time. I’d be down for some fly knight this afternoon/night

I only played until I got to the caves to unlock the multiplayer (not long at all)

I’m down to play tonight !

Ah I’m glad I checked! I’d be down to join too. Got a pretty neat looking set of armor last night.

Here’s my Steam friend code: 22934314

Okay I made my way through the tutorial

this is a great idea, I can volunteer to stream tonight

This thread reminded me of Subspace. I used to play that quite a bit circa 1996 and I am pretty sure you can still play it, but I’m not sure you can do that without installing a virus. :man_shrugging:t2:

@antillese this looks very strange and interesting and worth tinkering with ! most of my ideas are older fps deathmatch games so I would love to play something more unique like this!

@fivedollardare suggested Star Trek Voyager : Elite Force which seemingly has a community server online

this also reminded me of the Wheel of Time game from the 90s which isn’t supported officially anymore but has fan servers (alongside some other interesting older games)

while looking for support for older online games I also found this game spy replacement server that has a HUGE list of games that would be worth trying to revive for a night or two if we got a big enough group!

in line with Flyknight being a small party, pve, dungeon crawler, I’m pretty sure it is a hassle but I would LOVE to get a game of The Elder Scrolls Battlespire going

Also also: I’d love to give some dying games some love like RE:VERSE which got an end of service announcement last week

just wanted to write down some ideas so they aren’t lost in my disorganized brain

(also gotta get some quake nights in!!!)

here’s another fork of the Elite Force Holomatch standalone multiplayer. This one was maintained by people in the Elite Force RPG-X community, who seemed to have struck some sort of agreement with CBS to allow them to distribute it.

Here’s a Reddit thread from the people who put it together.

Not sure what the servers are like now or how to host one, but Last Outpost has one that seems to be perpetually running with ten bots.
