This may be news to some, but the 360 and Xbone Kinects are two distinct peripherals which are not interoperable with each other's associated consoles. The same goes for its games: you can't play a 360 Kinect game on Xbone with the Xbone's Kinect. It just doesn't work.
Even more tragic is that the Xberies X & S don't support the Xbone's Kinect, so games like *D4* and… *Alien Isolation*? (I'm joking, [there's way more](https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/fr14xh/all_xbox_one_kinect_games_list/)) can't be played on a Series X with an Xbox One Kinect.
I had no plans to pick up an Xbox One-specific Kinect at any time in the brief remaining years I have as a frail animal on this puny rock, and was confidently thinking I could trade in my One X for a Series X at some point in the future, but now I feel like not only do I need to hold onto this heavy thing… I also have to get a Kinect for it (and the USB adapter). Then maybe once I've sampled the Kinect experience on Xbone I can feel satisfied and say farewell to what has genuinely been one of my favourite consoles.
So this thread is about specifically Part 2 of Microsoft's weird Xbox One-upmanship answer to Nintendo's at-the-time seven years of waggle. I am curious how many people here ever owned or currently own a Kinect 2.0. How's that *Alien Isolation* with voice detection? Any other game experiences worthy of a shoutout?
Since it seems that even Wikipedia combines the Xbox 360 Kinect games with the Xbox One Kinect games in a single (incomplete) list, I thought I‘d put this list together for anyone else that might be interested, especially in these coronavirus times in which many of us are stuck at home and the kids need exercise
Feel free to chime in with any game or feature I missed and I’ll edit the post.
50 total games for Xbox One Kinect discovered so far.
Heck yeah, I love both Kinect V1 and 2. There is a bunch of unique and weird stuff across both devices. Here's a fun fact: Just Dance 2019 was the last Xbox 360 game and Kinect V1 game. Just Dance 2022 saw the final release of an Xbox One version and compatibility with its Kinect counterpart.
As for a V2 favorite, I love Fru! It’s a super unique platformer in which you are the platform. You use a controller while positioning your body so the character can cross gaps and the like. Unfortunately, the game saw a delisting from the Microsoft store with no word on its return. However, the developer gave me a code for donating to charity upon his suggestion. The guy is super kind, and I hope he can relist the game in the future, as there’s nothing quite like Fru.
