The IATSE animation union (The Animation Guild - Local 839) is STILL (started on 8/11) in negotiations over their contract with the AMPTP (major studios) — We’re still fighting for protections against AI, increasingly tight timelines and team sizes, job creep, and stagnant wages. This year’s negotiations are critical for the future of this industry.

Last night, the big boss of the nonprofit that runs the historic landmark that I work for told me all about how his father was a master horse veterinarian / breeder, and how he knows all about that stuff and the racing and betting, top to bottom.
You bet I was clinching so hard trying not bring up Japanese horse breeding sims for obscure video game consoles.

I’m looking after a kid tonight and he can’t sleep so he booted up NHL 2023. Homeboy was playing the simulator mode, and, wtf this is more complicated than I thought it would be. Now it’s time for the Seattle Krakens to play against the New York Rangers I guess. Rangers just got a penalty. Let’s go Krakens

As soon as kid was saying it didn’t feel like it was on the hard difficulty, New York scored. It’s still 2-1 but that’s an important lesson. Never let your guard down in Madison Square Gardens
