Have you tried reaching out to Retroremake? They’ve been pretty prompt getting back to me in the past. It’s a bit sad how long it’s taking this batch.
Nah I haven’t reached out. I’ve thought about it but I honestly wouldn’t even mind waiting if it was just one thing I ordered as an individual. It’s the full-scale opaqueness when there’s so many customers waiting for the same thing for so long that has turned this into something really strange to me. You’d think they would make a more public statement or send an email to the waiting customers or something when so many of them are reaching out and asking across several platforms. Definitely at the point now where it shouldn’t be expected for every single individual customer to reach out independently through several different methods just to hear where their money went. Judging from the tweets and so on I’m sure they’d respond perfectly promptly, but it’s just so strange, right?
I guess it’s a bit strange but there’s also the Chinese new year and language barrier factor. I also wouldn’t expect the same prompt replies from social vs direct customer service. I was in batch 1 part 2 and it took an extra few weeks/month but they also weren’t offering so many different products at that time. Seem to be victims of their own success more than anything imo, not expecting the PSX form factor sister until this time next year.
I am champing at the bit for my psx mister clone. I even found a tiny JVC broadcast monitor in anticipation. I’m struggling to figure out which game I should play first. I might try to get mame running and play Gorf. I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently.
yeah, i like what taki and retroremake are doing but he does give off some weird vibes, feel the same with a lot of the prominent figures in the MiSTer scene) the SiSTer community is where it’s at)
taki udon even has a dumb video where he uncritically unboxes a cybertruck shaped pc lol
Yeah I’m not trying to stand up for him, just seems he’s a bit bigger than he realizes.
I give Taki huge benefit of doubt since he actually shipped tons of devices but yeah his company’s too small to deal with all the stuff he’s selling/working on. Big reason why I didn’t order ssone. Also not ordering stuff that’s only shown in cg mockups lol
Sitting in batch 3 myself, but it was a gift for a friend. Had to opt for something else instead.
I’m not too miffed but I understand why people would be. It can be tough to provide clear status updates when blocks are coming from outside your team.
I’ve only been waiting for a week and it’s torture
also since batch 2 the whole tarriff will they won’t they game and the end of the free intl shipping happened. I haven’t really ordered anythign since then so I haven’t seen how bad it’s gotten
fwiw Taki Udon seems to have posted an update on delayed orders
he also posted about a potential successor of the SiSTer hardware on a bigger FPGA with 650k LEs. Curious to see if anything comes out of that, but I remain sceptical. At this point I’d like for the Analogue 3D to be eventually made open for FPGA cores, as a nice stop gap and cheap-ish evolution of the SiSTer project.
Big SiSTer
It’s not going to mean anything unless there are developers willing and able to make use of the extra power. I’m doubtful of the ability for solo hobbyist devs to crack a PS2/Dreamcast core. More arcade options would be the most realistic use and probably a few years after whenever Big Sister releases.
I really wish ps2 and ps3 gen consoles were easier to emulate. It’d be the dream to have an all in one emulation system. I’d love to get rid of my ps3 and 360 consoles. Who even knows how much life these systems have left. It’s eventually going to be extremely expensive to find working ones.
Nintendo DS would be a likely candidate, for example - FPGAzumSpass had a working core where the parts of the graphics chip that did 3D didn’t fit on the SiSTers 110k LEs. I also believe that Dreamcast and CV1000 (my personal white whale) would be on the cards, since the SH3 and SH4 processor architecture is pretty well documented. PS2 is pretty famous for being super complicated, so that’s probably not going to happen any time soon.
I’d argue PS2 is pretty much there. You might be missing some effects but that’s true of almost any emulator for any system past 1996.
That would be the dream. Imagine that and a proper 480p output for every game, I’d flip out
I need to check out ps2 emulation now. I haven’t looked in probably 12 years and 2 gaming pcs ago.
It works really well on my M1 Mac
