This is a good find. I don’t know scorpions but is this a desert hairy scorpion?
Now I’m dying to know what this game might be.

It’s a bark scorpion. They’re pretty venomous and mighty mean.
EDIT: You may have been referring to the hair and dust inside the box? If so, very clever!
a fellow arizonan?
Yes, regrettably, I am here in the land of too damn hot.
same—we actually just got some bird feeders to attract more birds to the backyard which will hopefully be a more natural way to take care of all the black widows we have back there (sorry, probably not appropriate for the bug thread)
This looks like the beetle took a selfie and I love it
I think black widows are neat but we don’t have them here (yet) so I have the luxury of thinking they’re neat.
Speaking of: in the past decade, thanks to climate change, the blacklegged tick aka deer tick has found its way into my neighbourhood. Now I have to worry about getting Lyme disease which was not ever a consideration when I was younger. It’s crazy and I hate it and anyway some of these critters do in fact need to fuck off and die lol.
looking for a good book rec about ants if anybody has one of those… they accomplished an impressive feat wrt a banana peel i had left sitting and would like to know how those little dudes work, they are fascinating.
Motht impressive!
Those all look like butterflies to me!
There was no pun to be made with “butterfly”, so I made a call.
Oops! All butterflies!
went to a butterfly garden when they got released. lots of them flapping about and some having lunch. there was a mirror to make sure you didnt have any clinging on as you walked out. butterflies rule.
i always find it funny how some species names have “common” in them, like “common morpho”…that guy is not common to me, never seen him before!
Feeling pretty confident #2 is a pale owl and #3 is some kind of great Mormon. Have no idea about #1. It looks like some kind of fritillary??
went to a butterfly garden
Do you hold the answers?? I see a couple of malachites chowing down in that last one!
Also I want to add I love how French and Spanish distinguish between moths and butterflies as night papillons/mariposas and day papillons/mariposas.
They had a few signs up about what they were but I was too busy looking around and taking pics to learn the names
I believe #1 is a postman butterfly, this page lists one with similar coloring as being of the cyrbia subspecies. though maybe the wing shapes dont match?
from what i can tell you’re right about the others! trying to find the name of the brownish ones in the last pic.
Postman looks right for #1 in your second post! I’m still at a loss for the #1 in your earlier post though.
They’re all butterfrees.
