Music that nobody knows about

@“safety_lite”#p113986 yeah, this is cool! I'll check this album out

Found this little album today and thought it was lovely:

行進曲+NOISE - LIVE '82.7.11

Apparently, the band Noise features Reiko Kudo, whose album _Rice Field Silently Riping In The Night_ is probably a little bit too well known to be in this thread, but if you haven't heard it, it's one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard.

Don‘t know if people know about Mong Hang, but I’m very into this album (even if a pitchfork review from 2002 was pretty mean to it)

@“mtvcribs”#p114312 I used to really like digging through Pitchfork and checking out albums they gave low or mid scores. Even albums they put in the lower half of the year end top 50s often feel pretty odd and out of the way.

Which is all to say: I liked getting that feeling again when you mentioned it, and I'll definitely take a dip into this album.

Got this today

Though I REALLY their band that came before Night Manager

I’ve known this beautiful human since we were both in diapers, going to the same shitty church school in rural florida. Always loved the post pop punk southern math rock king of the hill covers he makes with my other scant few friends I’ve retained from that area

The drummer is also a bestie and my eternal bean brother

This was back in the days when I did dance to punk music at little house shows in our home town and it was the only time I felt anything positive about that thoroughly cursed city

Matter o’ fact here’s more of swad’s recent stuff

I‘ve never met anybody who’s heard of Godzik Pink and I suspect I never will.

I would like to tell everybody about a super obscure band called “Nine Inch Nails“. They did a single off of the video game movie Tomb Raider in 2001.

But seriously. It’s like a lost NIN track based on a forgotten video game movie. It’s super weird!

The Light Program, by Geoff Downes & the New Dance Orchestra (aka his keyboards). This is an all instrumental work sounding at times new-age-y and at times elevator-y and at other times just cool synth-y. It‘s created by the Buggles/Yes/Asia/Yes keyboardist Geoffry Downes. I don’t know why I like it, TBH, but I like it. And in all likelihood you've never heard of it.

I've been listening to this band KK Manga for awhile now and they finally released something new.

According to bandcamp at least 20 other people know of them,

Someone gave me this tape it’s REALLY good. Unfortunately I could only find one of the songs online but it looks like you can order the tape. It’s the same few songs on both sides and I often just continuously flip the tape and listen to it over and over while doing stuff around the house.

I'm sure some people here will know about portable rock, especially since Maki Nomiya from Pizzicato Five is the lead singer but this song has only 23 views on youtube so…

The whole album is just filled with excellent late 80's jpop but the particular song linked above is just so relaxing and new-wavy

TJ Tent Mode's hot new track just dropped.

Random banger about Rudi Völler hidden on an early 80’s record dedicated to the Bundesliga’s Werder Bremen football club, sung rapped by a local radio MC with no proper musical experience. Deserves a remix by some modern crew.

https://youtu.be/MTjMyMDQcVk

It’s not the only Rudi Völler-themed song, mind you. The other one (from the early 00’s) is appropriately tacky, terribly produced and blessed with this monstrosity of an album cover. Much closer to the 🇩🇪German football culture I know.

@“穴”#p130777 that video seems to have been taken down but was it this one? https://youtu.be/RaQigA7-gOk?si=p2wjOt9Yrzb3cCn6

@“xhekros”#p111789 I found them during the covid lockdown with the previous album! Happened to catch them at their Memphis show they played earlier this year. If you missed them live, the venue I went to records all their shows, so you can check it out here!

Well somebody knows about it, but my brother just released a new song with his band, the first “official” song and I got to shoot and edit the music video for them.

They sing in Spanish. Rock/indie influence, very guitar-y, very melodic hooks on the voices, they sound a lot like some of the bands from the early 00s, at least from Spain.
