some stuff I discovered this week

was feeling emotional and checking in on some old favorite artists on pixiv I hadn‘t looked at since 2017. one of them has recently done the art for this album. not everyone’s cup of tea, but since I was in a mood, and miss those days I used to ride my bike in the humid night and draw pictures and listen to music, the album was good for me to listen to today…

I think Disco Elysium must‘ve propelled these guys into many more minds, but they’ve always seemed pretty unknown, especially in the States.

Any other Broadcast fans on here? I just found out about this release with a bunch of old recordings (mostly tracks from The Noise Made by People). I‘ve been listening all week and enjoying it thoroughly — especially the last track, Sixty-Forty (a Nico cover I’d never heard before).

I have really been enjoying the new BODEGA album. FFO Talking Heads, Wet Leg, other angular bouncy guitar music with furious talk singing

@“safety_lite”#p70914 I‘m a big Broadcast fan. I’m not into their post HaHa Sound records so this release has been fun.
I saw them play at the Aladdin here in Portland in 2003. It was a top 5 show. Absolutely fantastic! And there were like 25 people there. I was disappointed for the band but it was a neat experience.
@“Cheddahz”#p70934 This is exactly what I feel like it must be to live outside of a metropolis. People say the city is chaotic but I dunno man!! I go to the middle ass middle of florida and I feel like I'm in constant danger lol.
grimace is coming back in a biiiiiig way this year
WedCamp dropped their first album with Utaha as the vocalist on all the tracks- There is only 3 previously unreleased tracks out of the 8 tracks but the album flows nicely. It's a full setlist for a really good DJ at summer rooftop party. It flows quite nicely and it helps that I liked all the singles a bunch already.
Here's one of the new ear worms

@“Cheddahz”#p70934 this is great, would like to see more bands kicking around that remind me of Touch and Go records. Brings to mind a couple old local acts from my hometown. We strangely had a big scene for that in the late 2000's, later realized that was not so common in the rest of Canada.

Dreamcastmoe has a new song that is giving me a good vibe:
RU Ready | dreamcastmoe
Due to the name I'm not sure if it's moe like from the simpsons or moe like hueee
Perhaps more than “some” people know about Ott, I really have no idea. Is he big/popular/huge/crossover? Is he mega niche within the psy/psydub scene? I don't follow such stuff, I just listen.
New album out quite recently:

George and Jonathan‘s first album brings me back to a time of optimism, hope for the future, indie games as a cultural force, bright colors, and potential. If you remember that time, maybe it’ll bring you back there as well!

incidentally I happened across aerosmith's twitter profile and these are some bold words

@“exodus”#p71715 dang it I hit play on the embed rather than opening a new tab and now I cannot navigate away from this thread cause I don't want to interrupt the tunes even for a moment
(update: a well timed switch between tracks has freed me from my shackles)
This just popped up in my YouTube recommendations. Gotta love the mummies.

Wow this scratched an itch I didn't know I had. It is very, VERY 2010 which is cool. That was a fun time.
I've been really digging what I've heard of this group from Norway. Some real easy listening psych. I dunno what it is, but slide guitar really hits me in an emotional spot.

@“milo”#p71832 I am enjoying this! those nords like their spacey rock music.
the brit/japanese post-punk/new romantic pipeline is as intricate and interesting as it is incredible so suffice it to say i think a great, just off the beaten path entry into the depths of a great collection of collaborative works can be found with sandra sandi sandii o'neale and her cool-as-fuck second album with the sunsets sunsetz, immigrants.

i think she's big enough to warrant being in "some people" but if you want an example of how big she was chris mosdell wrote drip dry eyes for *her* and yukihiro takahashi covered *that* on neuromantic. incredible!
the rabbit hole is fuckin huge, i deeply encourage anyone fall into it and find all the ways she links YMO to roxy music, nobuhiko obayashi, and fiat lux.
