Harvesting and germinating dragon fruit cactus seeds. :)
might be a bit overkill at this point but always an option!
My daffodil army is growing with still more about to bloom. Not bad as they were only planted as a test for the soil!
My favorite thing about moving back to the Midwest are the spring storms.
Eight beautiful little gymnocalycium mihanovichii. To be potted up in a few days when the weather is warmer.
Those little guys are so fast. I’ve never got a picture of one.
I got pictures of two of them today! This one was just the best.
I dumped some organic plant refuse in a garbage bag and 3 or so months later I had a bag of decent soil clumps I will provide photographic evidence
PLEASE NOBODY LINK PLAZA HOTEL MANAGEMENT TO THIS THREAD
I just found some grass clippings and dry leaves in centrel park. (in fact I also scrounged some unused brussel sorouts from the bin behind the hotel kitchen)
It’s easy anyone can do it .
Kevin out 'til next time.
Soil clumps
Them that grow in the soil clumps
IC I’ll be real Soil clumps are a fun time even without plants in them
Will this lil’ buddy be ok?
One of my beautiful little Gymnocalycium mihanovichii under dappled light.
I am also attempting to upload the photo of my dragon fruit seedlings again. It got goinked last time.
One more cactus. Gymnocalycium saglionis. I rescued it from Lowe’s. It had a plastic pompom “flower” hot glued to it.
Now spring is kicking in, our trees (and a bush) are really starting to wake up:
Apologies for the quality of the walls, that’s our big project this summer so next spring should look even prettier.
We grew a big boy
It’s purple
We grew several more but none of the rest were quite this large. We pulled them up when replanting our raised beds - they were at basically about 40% of their original dirt levels so we found a guy on Craigslist with free dirt from digging up HIS garden and we filled it with amendments and such. It’s much nicer dirt than we could get at the store! We just gotta keep our eyes peeled for weeds.
Here’s one of our three beds, the deepest one. The dirt was previously down to the 2nd slat from the bottom lol. Whoops.
Here is a lovely website I found for those wanting to learn about wildflowers in the U.S..
It is a little island on the internet that seems to have been mostly untouched by social media.
