Press F for Fake (a thread of fake games)

I saw this dog version of Double Dragon in Bluey and had to post it somewhere.

There are other lists of fake games elsewhere online but I know this forum can do better.

Expanding this to cover more than just film and tv. Examples welcome from books, music videos, advertising, video games etc.

I‘m surprised nobody’s brought up this Twitter account dedicated to creating fake games.

The kid in surf ninjas plays a game that predicts the future and stuff

James Bond going head to head to save the world

doesn’t count but posting it anyway- the game in hackers is supposed to be some early prototype of wipeout

Deciding that this counts

I swear somebody did a book of this. Like concept art for games that don't exist.

@Mnemogenic Game Toilet? (I have this book somewhere).

Extremely minor (a couple fake game gags) plot spoilers of Rick & Morty S06E03 Bethsic Instinct (read if you don’t intend on watching the show or already have):

the “Realistic Space Travel” game for Morty’s new Pooplickian GamePod console in this weeks episode of Rick & Morty (S06E03 Bethsic Instinct) is basically the same concept as Desert Bus. Also interesting that the FFVII parody was entirely based on FFVIIR, that’s a first, after so many FFVII parodies on TV. Not much to say about the dating sim/ visual novel game, except that it took place on what is clearly the Santa Monica Pier.

This thread reminded me of this YouTube.

It follows 3 guys that go to an arcade to play a new fighting game called Computer Fighters 2000. It’s got a lot of dumb jokes and a lot of great ones. In the background of a lot of shots are real arcade games, but they also made a few of them up.
Here are a few pictures from the video including some of the made up games.

I find the video pretty enjoyable. The acting by these guys always felt like a parody of a 90s educational video.
