It’s the Leafs, so no, trust me. You’re good.
I’m shocked the Leafs have even forced game 7 tbh. It’s really hard to decide which is the funnier outcome for that series but either way it’ll be good
I feel for Leafs fans but we all have to admit that the 2013 series game 7 is one of the funniest (because most tragic) NHL moments in recent history.
The Bruins getting reversed swept or the Leafs getting their hopes up AGAIN… Either outcome is great.
go sens go
Two years in a row round 1 reverse sweeps would make my heart hurt in a big way
Just absolutely brutal
cant believe @chazumaru 's favorite player did this
Bruins taking game 1 is an unexpected joy
Also I am a big time not fan of the Cubs but watching Shota highlights has been a goddanged joy so far—that guy can hurl
The one positive of the Cardinals being completely hopeless for the present and future is that I don’t really care as much anymore about what the other teams are doing, so I can just think Shota is cool and not be annoyed that the Cubs got him basically for free. I know in real world dollars it was a lot of money, but not in MLB dollars.
Also, I don’t even understand Ohtani at this point. He gets stupider to watch every year. 103 total bases in 36 games now, pushing 3 WAR by mid-May as a full time DH. Watch this home run he hit yesterday (sound up):
https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1cm14r1/ohtani_blasts_a_441_foot_hr_for_his_11th_of_the/
I don’t even know what sound to compare that to. Bat on ball ain’t supposed to sound like that.
When I saw that highlight I swear I listened to the sound of the bat probably ten times in a row; it’s like hearing god
I used to think, “thank goodness I get to be alive and watching baseball at the same time Mike Trout is playing” and I still think that, but now I also get to think, “thank goodness I get to be able to see Ohtani happen as he happens”
The man is absolutely unreal in ways that it’s hard to talk about
So the other day I was watching, I believe a Cubs game and saw a batter get called for interference because his back swing touched the catcher trying to throw out a baserunner stealing second. I thought to myself, “this sure seems to be happening a lot more this year.” Now, today I see Wilson Contreras has a fractured arm from a back swing. It certainly feels like this is a concerted thing, catchers seem to be crowding the plate more than in the past, I don’t know if the idea is to get more batter’s interference calls or if it’s a pitch framing thing. Either way, sure doesn’t seem worth it when you can get your arm broke or take a bat to the dome.
Bay FC losing streak continues. Lot of stuff kinda going wrong on the defense and in the midfield, especially defense. Really need to figure out a way to keep a better defensive line. Too often they’re not in sync, lose their shape, and allow players to kinda worm their way in behind them for great chances. Gotta stay more disciplined.
In better Bay Area sports news though
WE GOT THAT NUMBER 1 PICK!!! First time in franchise history!! Macklin Celebrini will be the pick which is great. He’s from Vancouver but played for the Jr. Sharks when his family moved here. His Dad is the director of sports medicine and performance for the Warriors so they have ties to this area. While the guy isn’t as heralded as Bedard or McDavid he’s still projecting to be a franchise changing star player. We’ve never had a prospect like this before and it’s just so exciting. We’re still probably 2-3 years away from playoffs, if everything goes well in the rebuild, and I just can’t help looking forward to what this team will hopefully look like. We have so many good prospects now. And ALSO we have the 14th pick in the draft this year too from the Erik Karlsson trade. Looking promising.
Killer pass from Staab on the first Red Stars goal , which calls to mind what’s up with the WNT back line with just a couple months before the Olympics. The attack is finally getting healthy with Lavelle and Swanson back in action, but now Davidson, Girma, and Cook have been dealing with injury. Sauerbrunn looks like she’s aged out and Dahlkemper hasn’t looked rock solid (also coming back from a serious injury herself. I feel good with Fox and Dunn/Nighswonger on the outside, but problems with the CBs are worrying and it’s tough to envision success with Girma out there. I don’t like Staab’s ever had a chance with the WNT, but the L footed passing out of the back line would be nice to have. Probably too late to get her in the mix for this summer though I suspect
Beginning to think back to back 6 goal games is not exactly a good way to win this series
i will come back here soon to post highlights of the 6h of spa-francorchamps because people, that was liquid sportscar endurance racing
The first day of the May Grand Sumo tournament is complete, and it was a day of upsets! All four Ozeki lost their matches, as did the Yokozuna!
I’ll let @Skellingtor provide the 6 Hours of Spa update, but I echo the sentiment.
The 6 hours of Imola recently was also interesting, with total chaos from the very first corner.
i thought i had missed the upload but i forgot i wasn’t subscribed to the WEC channel oops. anyway, here it is
I don’t know if this exists in other sports but hockey analysts will often describe a player who works hard as a “gamer” and it never fails to make me double-take and lol
The evil of sports betting strikes again:
It is the end of the first week of the May basho, and it is still anyone’s guess as to who will eventually win. Coming in to today, Ura was sole leader with a 6-0 record, but he lost and fell back to the large crowd all with 1 defeat.
Leaving us with the top of the leaderboard looking like:
6-1

As I type this, we’re about to get to the interesting part of F1 qualifying – the last 3-4 minutes of the hour long qualifying procedure. There was a surprise during each of Q1 and Q2, but I fear that the rest of this Q3 is going to just follow The Script.
