Had a very insert credit adjacent day yesterday that culminated with an acquisition. Firstly I woke up at 7am, worked for two hours and accidentally took a nap that lasted from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm so that was weird.
Anyway I was playing a show that afternoon so that nap kinda threw me off cause I wanted to get more work done. The show was with Hooky from Philly. I had never heard of them until I was told I was playing with them and when I first looked them up the first comment that appeared on youtube was from no other than insert credit’s premiere DJ @fugazi57
So that was cool.
The show was supposed to be at this community center in san diego i’ve played in many times but got changed last minute to a small record shop that also sells movies and games called Red Brontosaurus Records
The place was cool and had cool stuff. A friend and I were gushing about some Tenchi Muyo laserdiscs they had on the wall. They also had a Bubblegum Crisis laserdisc which reminded me I should watch bubblegum crisis. Not long after that, I spotted a Para Para Paradise box. I knew I wanted to check it out, but it was inaccessible cause all the record shelf/cart things were moved around for the show. I asked about it, but the owners said that they didn’t know about the price or if it was complete. So I decided to wait till the end of the show.
It was a cool show.
I asked about the Para Para Paradise box before leaving and the person behind the register climbed through all the record shelves and got the box (kinda embarrassing that I had to make someone do something kinda dangerous lol).
As I suspected, it was for the PS2, but it had no game. It was only the controller thing. Talked with the record store people for a bit, they asked me if I was a rhythm game player or something and I showed them a pic of my DIY DDR pad, and they ended up selling me the Para Para Paradise thing for 25 bucks.
