Scoffing down a pizzer - snack edition

I’m not buying anymore you know! I’m still scared of the blue ones but now I hear regular is best.

Can you get some kind of taster menu for these things?

i’ll also say it’s very funny and endearing that tom bought a bag of marked up imported blue takis

they’re not that special. eating an actual serrano or habanero pepper has more heat you’ll be fine. Assuming here that you’ve eaten those before

Two. I had to buy two!

Oh I’ve eaten those before. Tickle quite a bit but I wouldn’t call them painful and quite tasty!

I grew up with spice and peppers. You need something to add flavour to that lovely English cuisine!

I do not like Takis in any form. Too much corn and not enough flavorful dust.

seeing a disturbing trend between homer simpsons avatars and anti latam snacks

I know you’re a huge Partridge fan, but not sure if this tickles your fancy

Not able to see it, but damn if that isn’t comedy greatness in one show!

Out here we have something called chili mango, which is dried mango sloces covered in chili powder (and usually also some citric acid and soooodium) or Tajin.

Even here in the American Southwest, people look at me funny when I mention it, but it’s at every gas station, and it’s pretty good if you are a spice goblin.

I’m late to the Takis talk but a) yes they are good b) the purple bag ones are the best

Do you all have these in the US? I’ve been to the chips sections or various supermakets in California recently, and i can’t quite recall seeing them?

They are by the same company that makes takis and come in the same varieties but the dust coating to chip ratio is much more intense and it’s almost impossible to eat them without coughing.

And also the Fuego variant is the only Takis flavor that’s vegan so that’s all i eat

Chip’s looks like a knockoff version of Takis made by a cookie maker. The color is there, but the shape is different.

I haven’t had them, but I do like hot food. I’ll keep an eye out.

The Time Tom Tried Takis (TTTTT)

So yes I finally opened the bag and gave them a taste. I know you are all very curious to know what I thought, well at least @MoH is so here goes…

Sorry to disappoint, but I still sound very British!

I did like them, the spicy taste was better than I expected, but the crisps themselves tasted stale for me which was a shame as had they been fresher I think I’d have enjoyed them more.

Completely understand why people like them, just not for me and it’s not because of the spice - I’d have preferred a lot spicier - but glad to say that’s been done and… dusted :sunglasses:

So yeah, on a scoring system I don’t know, seven out of 13 maybe? And what’s the next challenge to get me to try to lose my Britishness?

Also anyone want a bag?!?!

I thought it was a faulty premise to think bad food would make an English guy less english but refrained from saying so for politeness sake

Did you think bad food would make an English guy more English? As I believe there is some truth in that thought.

Also I hope the refrain was not for my account. I like the idea of trying a food so strong that would change my accent, just don’t know what it is yet. But I’m willing to try anything.

I know ‘Chip’s’ is likely possessive like ‘David’s’ or ‘Kate’s’ but because in North America these are ‘chips’ I read this as a weird pluralization error.
