re: the Sega building
@sosadillatron#5736 I had a chance to visit this place when it was Zynga, and I was surprised to find out that it had once been Sega! But that's a whole other non-Sega-related story.
I think the Wondermega is wonderful and I concur that it's the best looking hardware.
I saw the X'eye in the wild in a Macy's electronics department back in the day but I already had a Sega CD so that wasn't going to happen.
Here’s a decent run on TheHouse of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn (2018).

what‘s up with the volume fluctuation on this? I don’t remember that from the arcade!
@whatsarobot#5037 this is a good price. it says ‘complete with accesories and some outer case damage’ right there on the sticker. as someone who tracks these down for a side hustle, you should jump on this!

I think it’s an issue of A-Cho’s fairly standard capture device vs. a more elaborated sound source that probably allocates sound to different speakers to create a 3D sound. For instance, the seemingly muffled dialogues are probably meant to be played on separate speakers closer to the players. I have not seen the actual cabinet up close so this is pure conjecture.
that makes sense! I do think it's got that 3D sound biz, so the logic holds
@exodus#6597 @chazumaru#6591 Bizarrely, this happens in finished, purchasable ‘triple-A’ console games too - particularly when there‘s no bespoke stereo mix and it’s somehow deemed acceptable to just redistribute the five (or more) surround channels back down to the standard two stereo channels with no consideration of volume levels or, in some cases, distortion or phasing.
One recent-ish example is Wolfenstein: The New Order. I couldn't make it past the first hour due to the dreadful mix. I would re-start it once in a while thinking I somehow had my system settings or the game's audio settings messed up. Nope! It's supposed to sound like that.
Here's an edible SEGA logo to keep us on-topic.

@hellomrkearns#6634 oh my God I want that hat
@billy#6632 He wrongfully thinks MS bought them and would anounce it tommorow at TGS 2020 Online?
the naganuma thing is just him being sad the arcade building in akihabara is going away.
@Neko#6566 Yeah, that kind of side hustle is something I‘ve contemplated many times! Maybe you can give me some tips on how to get hustlin’. What vendors and services to use, etc. I really have no clue.
I did buy this guy yesterday though lol
