The Hamburg library has branches in 34 locations in addition to the big central library near central station. It’s easy to look up which locations a book is available at. I’ve been looking for specific books multiple times now and slowly developed the hobby of library hunting - checking out new locations when I’m in the area or explicitly seeking them out when they have a book I really want to read. Today I’ve checked off the 9th location from my list to retrieve Kawakami Mieko’s Heaven. I previously checked for it twice at the central library where there should also be a copy. But it’s not where it’s supposed to be so I took advantage of today’s freezing but beautiful weather to go on a 12km round trip walk, crossing the biggest rural cemetery in the world.

On my way back I noticed the daytime moon. It’s not really a rare occurrence but feels magical nonetheless, every time I notice it .
