I bet the physics on those chips is pretty sick
Did you try them? Last month at my old job (I quit last week so it is now officially my old job) I was putting up banners for these chips in a bunch of grocery stores. Seems like they’re doing a big marketing push because I’d never seen them before, and now they’re at the checkout of every Superstore.
oh wow. Tim Hunkin from The Secret Life of Machines explains how an electro-mechanical arcade machine works using a machine he made himself.
His The Secret Life of Machines series from the 80s-90s is fantastic and thankfully he’s made them available on his YouTube. People here would probably enjoy The Secret Life of the Television Set or The Secret Life of the Video Recorder.
Tryin to figure out the road to get saves off a ps2 memory card onto a pc without any freemcboot ps2 excess, this video had everything I needed and also was just the most fuckin legit video I have seen in a long time. There are so many priceless moments in it… I’m tellin ya just take a look.
(The way in which there’s info in here that google was failing to serve up also is a reminder of how far we have fallen online. Turns out searching for videos published more than eight years ago is probably a good starting point.)
I’m still working on my sci-fi comic. I’m fleshing out the details. I wanted Venus to be habitable, and I landed on the term “deacidification” for treating the atmosphere. I went to Google to make sure my ideas aren’t too similar to other works. You know, accidental convergent thought. (I am not the first or last person to daydream about living on Venus, I know.)
Anyway, apparently museums and libraries have a radical deacidification process for preservation. It was neat to look into, even if it doesn’t help my writing process.
Tangent but one of the coolest things I’ve read in any science fiction novel was Kim Stanley Robinson’s wacky vision of a human habitat on Mercury
I was looking through old emails and found the email Sony sent me congratulating me for getting a platinum trophy in Beyond: Two Souls. This is the only time Sony has ever congratulated me for getting a platinum trophy, and I still have no idea why they did it. Here’s a picture of the main body of the email so you too can share in my glory. I am the 1.52%.
first time I have been genuinely impressed by an AI thing. just tried an AI song maker or whatever they are called, put in “industrial rock ballad lamenting burnt toast” and it fuckin delivered… this was literally the first result:
[Verse]
Searing heat in the morning haze
A careless moment
My toast ablaze
Blackened bread
My hopes destroyed
A breakfast ruined
My soul annoyedScorched edges
They mock my fate
The smell of failure
Can’t dissipate
In this charred moment
I can’t deny
My burnt toast
A tear in my eye[Verse 2]
The bitter taste
It lingers on my tongue
A reminder of all that’s come undone
I spread my butter on this toasty shrine
But the bitterness remains
An eternal sign
I’m revisiting z0r.de, one of those sites that let you haphazardly browse a library of Flash animations (like Leekspin), thanks to Ruffle. Here is a chill one I found:
Some of these are nsfw so be warned!!
I am not taking the time to blot out my real first name in these photos, though I do wish to exist online in a pseudonymous capacity. The community here has proven to be populated by kind people, so I trust you all with that lone particle of information.
I have said as such elsewhere that I am a professional comic book artist. I’m setting up my sparkling new art studio, full of complicated, compounding emotions as I shuffle through a lifetime of work. These are the first few weeks after I ended my two year hiatus. The reason for which are many, but the largest being a fight with sobriety. (In October it will be 3 years. Though I’m not sure the exact date. You can imagine why!)
Achievements and published works are intertwined with memories of shame and embarrassment.
Looking at old photos and videos of dead friends.
I am pained, but there is good in it.
Just a little reminder that while I also trust the community here, it is a publicly viewable forum so keep that in mind if you’re ever worried about being pseudonymous!
Good biz! It’ll be four for me in June.
