@“pasquinelli”#p58285 is the rest of this show and the movie it's spun off from funny?

@“connrrr”#p58413 no idea, the clip came to me on the wind.

i saw this years ago and promptly completely forgot its name. it‘s a sweet, quiet little slice of life anime following a robot who runs a cafe in humanity’s twilight years. i could go on, but i've ptobably already said too much. it feels like a cool night after a hot summer day.

@“pasquinelli”#p58615 I‘ve watched this twice since you’ve posted it here. What a wonderful, quiet thing. Thanks for sharing.

@“pasquinelli”#p58615 The manga that this is an adaptation of actually just got a localization announcement! (apparently this had been a veeeeeery popular request but just never happened until now!)

@“kory”#p19048 I'm scrolling through this thread to look for something I wanted to recall, but I am going to be good-will-within-a-community-destroyingly pedantic in response to this:

A time signature is not solely defined by consistent repetition. A time signature must represent the rhythm and metre on a macro but also micro level as well, and it should reflect the metrical character of the music and not just whatever absurd numbers end up being spit out at the most recognizably consistent points of repetition.

Basically, any time anyone has said anything to the effect of "this has a time signature of 731289312/512 lol" has been lying to you, because, well, at least as far as notation is concerned, that would simply never happen, because expressing musical information in this way is not about representing precise mathematic truth but expressing it in a way that humans can comprehend, interpret, reproduce in performance, etc. In other words, every time signature is actually just the same handful of common and useful ones (idk, 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/4, 5/4, maybe 7/4) and any aberrations (even regular ones) are better expressed as brief switches into a different time signature. Whatever represents the actual rhythm and metre for most of the time, and, yes, I think it's actually far more clear to switch time signatures often than it is to say the time signature is actually some huge long number.

Perhaps, even, it is not totally accurate to even say that electronic music "has" a time signature... time signatures are for composers to make sense of it and performers to replicate, but a machine that does not deviate in its performance does not require a time signature to make sense of the music it performs. But I digress.

Listening to that track, I would say that it has a pretty clear high tempo 2/4 feel. If I absolutely felt the burning desire to notate the strange little pause precisely, it would be 3 measures of 2/4, and every fourth measure would be one of these:

[upl-image-preview url=//i.imgur.com/04WZJ4d.png]

Which just denotes a brief change to a different time signature for only one measure or pair of measures, in this case it'd be 2/4 and 3/128, and the second part of it would just contain a dotted 64th rest, I guess.

If I wanted to be even more practical and contain more information with less ink, I'd put a breath mark on every fourth measure: [upl-image-preview url=//i.imgur.com/MuDakL4.png]

In practice these breath marks aren't precise lengths but I could put a performance note saying that they must be the precise length of a dotted 64th note in the existing metre and tempo.

Anyway, this is why I am the most powerful pedant in the world--pedantry is not about being technically correct in a convoluted way--it is about being as correct as possible by volume

@“KennyL”#p59126 Immaculate contrast with the profile pic (which, if it ever were to change, for posterity's sake, the pfp was of Pyramid Head)

Hmm should start a Gamer Grub thread…

@“Gaagaagiins”#p59400 Unsurprisingly, there was a Twitter account built around this idea.
