My closest “normal brand” convenience store no longer stocks Combos. My life is a pretzel without cheese.

A true bummer.

I’ve seen these before and they look pretty good. I’ve also seen others point out the “graza-fication” of the bougie snack food branding we all enjoy from time to time

I have been getting my EVOO by the gallon for a decade, and with global warming, Olive prices went up with a bad harvest year. They’re down again. I consider these a one-time purchase for the cute and convenient bottle, which I then refill on my own with my bulk EVO. Prior to this I was using sriracha bottles but why are less aesthetically pleasing and have worse caps for oil. There is real science and horticulture in the two different varieties of olive oil, with distinct taste, but not worth the markup imo when you use as much olive oil as I do and love the taste either way. But for my partner, who doesn’t like my bulk oil, the “tasteless” cooking oil is actually what she prefers on salads, lol.
I’m somewhat of an olive oil connesieur (has made up to like 30% of my diet at times) and lemme tell ya— with climate change pretty soon we’ll be lucky to have it at all. Stock up. It’s a shame because olives are such an amazing food. Same with avocados.

I was also raised in the fact extra virgin oil is not to be cooked with, since the purpose of extra virgin is that it’s raw & uncooked, and that cooking oils should always be cheaper ones. But also my dad is “raw” vegan so his bias is that it’s a shame to cook high quality produce in the first place, which isn’t always true of course.

Anyways,

Show this to someone from any other era and they’d believe we’re living in a depression. Pretty fuckin bold to claim “only 2.99” for a bag of not even potato chips, but over salted reconstituted potato concentrate + corn meal. Holy shit this is the lowest tier of potato and it’s nearly four bucks with tax. IMO $4 is what the price of a meal should be. It’s only economical when you see the other bags of shit are all six bucks now. I was on the road and pretty hungry. They were throwing out all the hot bar items directly into the trash fully wrapped in foil so I just lucked out and grabbed a couple and walked out.

I almost bought a bag of the ones that have plum filling last week! How are they?

No! Surprisingly they’re very very good! And it turns out they’re exclusive to Canada too! (I should also say for the cheese eating readers of this that there is literally no way they compare favourably to full cheese strength Cheetos puffs)
