Sonic The Threadhog

I have officially now gotten all endings on sonic 1-3 on original hardware! Gonna replay SA1&2 through on Dreamcast soon

Slightly OT but I figure those who most may benefit from this info will look at this thread.

Skate 3 glitch video trailblazer HelixSnake pointed out Spark the Electric Jester 3 on his channel. Looks pretty damn nice to me as a “Sonic adventure is sick”-level sonic partaker.

why is no one talking about this?!

welcome to the club, buddy

that was a parry in a sonic-like

As I delve into what would seem to be three different sonic wikis— sonicretro, fandom wiki, etc and tcrf— I’m not surprised to see that this rabbit hole of sonic info is never ending.

I always appreciated sonic, of course, but I’ve gone from level 5 to level 10 for sure.

It’s looking like I’m going to get all the puzzle pieces in sonic pocket adventure, something that seemed so daunting as a child.

And I’m enjoying thinking about what could have been, in regards to 32bit sonic games.

Like, a 2.5D sonic [made by sonic team, not STI] would possibly play a fair bit like nights.

The way sonic mania took the sonic 3D blast Saturn ver. special stage style and expanded on it, using a 3D polygonal ring to transport you there was brilliant.

I’m looking forward to playing through sonic 1-3 again in Sonic Jam, once I drag out my Saturn (fingers crossed that we will have a few rainy days here soon, but I doubt it), and I’m resisting skipping straight back to Dreamcast to play the adventure games I already spent most of my childhood playing.

And of course, all the other juicy sonic tidbits. Stuff Frank Cifaldi is even enthusiastic about like what sonic 2 could have been if fully expressed.

It all just feels so *right* to me now. The only thing is I’m a seriously late bloomer.

Im even tempted to give Sonic Forces a shot, with my own OC *Treefroggy the Cat*. Too bad you can’t be *Big*-shaped and are forces’d to be Sonic-shaped. It sounds interesting once I realized it has similarities to Sonic Generations, which I played when it was new and thought it was the step in the right direction for the series in a long, long time.

another thing:
with how all-encompassing sonic hacks are, I wouldn't imagine there's a hack of sonic 2 that makes it have the same music as Pocket Adventure, I.E., imports the Sonic 3 tracks into the game.

Uniqlo has a sonic shirt, which is something I found out by going to uniqlo to buy socks because I'm traveling and only bought 10 pairs.

@“chazumaru”#p88085 this whole DLC thing feels so weird to me.

@“RubySunrise”#p88093 It is indeed bizarre in a vacuum but keep in mind this happened on the other side last year.

The Sonic and Tails costumes were janky but the quest itself ended up being one of the most interesting and unique free DLC quests from Monster Hunter Rise.

@“chazumaru”#p88096 true, but the crossover stuff has been happening in Monster Hunter since at least 4U, my entrance to the franchise. It‘s not that it’s not weird, it's that I know what to expect when another franchise crosses over into Monster Hunter.

_Sonic Frontiers_ isn't even out yet, is already a weird looking game space that doesn't feel right for the character, so to wrap it in the aethstetics and tropes of Monster Hunter feels a bit surreal. It's like watching a game/character/design team have an existential crisis.

So is this Frontiers game gonna be good? What you all reckon? I'm interested.

I'm pretty crazy excited for Frontiers!! I really think the open world thing can be fun.

But most important, based on all the videos I've been watching, Sonic looks plain fun to control which I don't think can be said about a 3D Sonic game in a long while.

I reckon it’s going to be slightly better than Sonic Unleashed, beloved by hardcore Sonic fans (especially those who grew up during the PS2/GC era) for its wonderful characterization of secondary Sonic characters, and ridiculed by most outlets for its janky engine and collision bugs. It’s a pretty safe and boring prediction so I hope to be completely wrong!

Here are two variations of the same TVCM used in Japan (feat. famous Youtubers boys band _Fischer’s_) and South Korea (feat. K-Pop girls band _Kep1er_). It is certainly the hardest Sega has pushed Sonic in both territories since maybe Sonic Adventure.

I have it on very good authority that it will be pretty bad! But I am interested to check out how bad, and in what capacity, for myself~

huh

Well the reviews are pretty mixed on Frontiers so far!

I can’t say I’m the least bit surprised.

Too bad GoW R is out this week and I won’t have time/money to check out Frontiers.

More like too bad Frontiers is out this week and I won't have the time/money to check out GoW R

I‘ll take mixed to good reviews!!! Hahaha at this point anything better than "it’s absolute trash" is okay with me.

My bar is a bit lower than most folks for how much enjoyment I can suck out of a game, however, so I guess we'll see.

The reviews seem to averaging somewhere between 6/10 and 8/10, if y’all get what I’m saying
