Tell me anything

DOOM (2016) is a better game than DOOM (1993)

@“Gaagaagiins”#p129814 I think DOOM (2016) is better than DOOM ETERNAL.

@“MovingCastles”#p129817 that's definitely the case

Doom Eternal is awesome when it comes to the moment to moment combat and range of movement. Though the “platforming” is frustrating and the story/lore is stupid and irritating. Doom '16 is better than Eternal as a whole. I will say that Doom/Doom II are amazing when played on Ultra-Violence although II's level design gets real boring about halfway through.

@“Gaagaagiins”#p129814 But is it better than Knee-Deep in The Dead?

i don‘t like
. know the differences between fighting games? 2d vs 3d is clear, and i know soul caliber does weapons instead of kicks and punches, but like, any time i see a 2d SNK fighter or capcom spinoff i am completely at all loss as to what meaningful differences there are. same with like, virtua fighter vs fighting vipers or whatever vs like, tekken? like i’m sure there are subtleties like how the first dragon quest and final fantasy games have their differences (party size, number size, battle size, etc) but they more or less play the same? or am i missing something huge???

@“phylaxis”#p129905 I don‘t really know anything about fighting games but a game like Street Fighter seems way faster and snappier than Tekken, but I have had a lot of fun playing Tekken. But I’m also probably wrong about that!

@“phylaxis”#p129905 I think one meaningful difference is the number of buttons in play. KoF is a four button game, for example. Virtua fighter is a three button game. Tekken is 4. Street Fighter is 6. Those different play configurations led to different conventions for each game, so you have games that appear to be similar, but that similarity is produced in different ways.

Honestly, yeah, except on the level of how Shareware DOOM and the DOOM source code is perhaps the best value proposition in gaming, ever--it being both one of the greatest games of all time, but also not just free to play, but actual shareware which anyone can run, share, study, and modify freely, through it being released under the GNU General Public License.

I'm joining a webinar on ON24 and this stuff slaps baby! So refreshing not to open up a Zoom window.

My favourite part of the Peloponnesian War is when the Ambraciots invade Amphilocian Argos and the rest of Amphilocia, which was originally founded by the Argive, Amphilocius son of Amphiaraus, who originally invited the Ambraciots to join their colony. The Ambrociots then took Amphilocian Argos, so the Amphilocians went over to the Acarnanians, and together they enlisted the help of the Athenians. The Athenians, Amphilocians, and Acarnanians then took back Ampholician Argos from the Ambraciots, enslaving their people. When the Peloponnesian war breaks out, the Ambraciots invade Amphilocus to drive the Acarnanians from Argos, but they aren't able to, so they all go home.

I’m sat, pretty upset that my latest video project has been deleted from my computer. All that was left was to export it. 4 working days gone.

@“HyggeState”#p131074 damn!

@“Privately_Attack”#p131075 I changed my diaper, and darn it, I recorded it again.

My trump-supporting cousin married a guy who‘s similarly guns, trucks, blue lives, etc., but I realized we can relate to each other when it comes to games and hardware. In that awkward waiting around with nothing to do period on his wedding day he was showing me all the fancy PC components and accessories he was getting for an upcoming build and we compared play times on our switch libraries. We have opposite tastes in games too, but that’s okay because no one else in the family even has any idea what we‘re talking about. Yesterday he told me he’s excited for a bioshock adaptation they‘re supposedly making and then he showed me his bioshock infinite tattoo. I’ll leave it for you to decide what that means about the game and its fans.

We’re back, baby!
