Tell me anything

There are these birds by my window that start chirping around 2:30 in the morning and stop around 7:00 in the morning.

It’s most likely a northern mockingbird (if you are in north america). they tend to sing at night during the spring to find a partner. they can be really annoying lol

i had one of those a few years ago. we also had one that did that on a tree in the backyard when I was a kid and my dad would go out and shake the tree or poke it with a broom to be able to sleep.

I want to see high fashion take on work uniforms and clothes, like a chef outfit and train conductor or just the blue collar carhartt and flannel outfit.

I’ve taken my daughters to see a stage production of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for the young’uns and there’s a character who occasionally addresses all the kids in the audience. Whenever he does this, the Mii Plaza music plays.

As I type this there’s a drone-controlled inflatable dolphin floating above my head.

I called my Sweetwater rep to ask about a guitar pedal shipment and it turns out he makes chiptune music and it turned into a conversation about Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.

Update: I have bought the pedal.

Seeing this at the bottom of a thread means you’re in for a good time, but not right away.

I’m still in the process of buying bread-and-butter bits-and-bobs for all of my instruments. I’ve been in the market for a fuzz. My heart was set on a Big Muff, but the sale was so steep on this one (also by Electro-Harmonix) that I bought it. $35 new, down from $70.

I’m not so precious about tone. I have general ideas for my music, like wanting fuzz in this case, but I am of the opinion that, ā€œIt sounds how it sounds.ā€ and I am happy with however my equipment sounds.

oh nice, $35 is like behringer levels lol. as a former ā€œgear headā€ in recovery, i still like the idea of nice pedals and the like, however i was really surprised to find how far line-in/DI recording has come since i was last playing music a decade ago.

if you want to experiment with tone at all, i highly recommend getting an amp simulator. there’s paid ones like amplitude (what i use), but there’s also a great open-source one called NAM (neural amp modeler) where you can basically recreate big muff tones and such to your hearts content. it’s really cool and kinda humbled me when i saw how good digital tones are lol.

like this is a little thing with essentially a jcm800 and soldano 100 and some reverb etc. i think the compression of clipping it fucked up the drums but you get the idea hopefully!

I have an earthquaker rainbow machine I once found at a fleamarket at one of those return surplus trash stands. It was only $15~ish. I plugged it in and didn’t work. Opened it up and discovered a loose wire I just had to connect back in.

I just wanted to brag about that.

I associate Evanescence’s ā€œGoing Underā€ with this video of Hatsune Miku menacing her fellow Vocaloids with a leek. This has been the case since the early 2010s and I have no intention of changing this.

Happy Blaze It and Praise It Day to all who celebrate, either one or the other, or both. Easter Sunday last coincided with 4/20 in 2014, and they will not coincide again until the year 2087.
