I was a funcoland man when I was a kid. Probably sucked just as much but I really liked the name. Itâs synonymous to kid chameleon in my brain because thatâs the game my dad bought there instead of sonic.
My only real memory of GameStop is trading my copy of Mario galaxy 1 +2 for like $20 I used for gas money. Probably to drive somewhere shitty and lame.

Micromania is much better than Gamestop (which is admittedly not saying much) but more importantly turns a profit, unlike the rest of Gamestop. From my limited experience, the current Micromania experience is pretty much akin to how it felt shopping at Gamestop about ten years ago. One huge difference is Micromania did not believe in used games business for the longest time, and only belatedly pivoted towards the used games business around the PS4 era.
Gamestop already sold their Italian and German businesses recently. They are getting out of Europe entirely before GTA6 comes out, which is the last reason any potential buyer would bother with the specialized retail market, bar maybe Switch 2.
