Has anyone restarted on a new platform? I put many hours in to base Rise on my Switch (as I‘m sure I’ve mentioned in this thread earlier) but never got around to grabbing Sunbreak.
Even if the game is "free" via GamePass, I don't know about going through all of that time again just to get back to where I was previously. I imagine a whole bunch of that (previously) endgame grind is no longer relevant, as Sunbreak introduced Master Rank and likely every piece of armour, weaponry, and all talismans would be immediately useless.
I'm curious how long it would take to get through LR/HR again, fresh. My gut says something like 20-40 hours, which feels like it is too long for me to bother with.
@rejj I play MH on portable anyway so I think I would only dare replay it from scratch on Steam Deck, if anywhere.
Still haven’t come around to play Sunbreak either! Maybe during the New Year break.
@rejj Armour and weaponry get replaced fairly quickly especially if you‘re just trying to get to MR as quickly as possible. A good talisman however can last you well into the Sunbreak endgame even if the new melding options eventually should produce better results. Something like a core skill (AB2, CE2, WEX2 and so on) + 2-2-0 slots is still really good. I’ve put hundreds of hours into Sunbreak and still haven‘t got a talisman that’s better than good Rarity 7 ones (currently running an AB2 3-1-0 and it's honestly not great even if I can make use of the 3-slot for my Lance sets). The latest title update did introduce a new melding method that allows you to pick the main skill for the talisman with a 100% rate of getting it which should make the endless grind somewhat faster unless you are aiming to get a real “god charm”.
I started an alt character for fun/weapon practice and it basically took me 25-ish hours to get to the start of Sunbreak, but that also included stopping to grind out gear pieces every now and then and not using the OP Defender weapons that have insane raw damage for their level or Black Belt S gear (Rarity 7 gear available from the very beginning) that were added for Sunbreak's release and are meant to speed up your progress through the base game significantly.
A fun recap of all Monster Hunter collabs.
