The non-Japanese East Asian music thread

Here's some 2000s-ass Taiwanese mandopop (I believe?) I found while looking up the final boss for that final Sonic Frontiers update.

Eventually I‘ll get to my big list, and this isn’t the song I want, but I can't find it, and this is close - basically just very interesting to hear a chinese singer (lin siang yuen) do essentially arabic-influenced exotica.

The song I actually want is track A1 on this album btw

The track listing says it's an "Indian song" I think

@exodus Is this it?

I also found this, which looks to be the original. It's the theme song of the movie Awaara.

If the subtitles of this video are a direct translation of the original, then it looks like the lyrics of Lin Siang Yuen‘s version are roughly the same, about being a wanderer, being alone, feeling no sorrow, bearing pain in one’s heart, yet still singing a happy song, etc.

I guess this is another one of those massively influential movies that get referenced in Chinese stuff all the time, but which I knew nothing about. Another example is The Bridge. The Chinese version of its theme song Bella Ciao shows up in all sorts of stuff:

there's some tribal/folk/groovy filipino stuff that really rocks:

i don't know if it counts since he's based in london, but i really really like triad god:

@saddleblasters yep that's it! Thanks! I guess it is an Indian song after all.
