Looking to be more intentional with how I spend my time playing videogames, struggling to pick which game to stick with as my main one for the time being.
I’m interested in all of them though just don’t have time to play all these games at once. Help!
I have a beef against Act 3 of DQ11 but otherwise, I’d always encourage finishing a game when you’re so close to the ending.
On the other hand, Act 2 of The Witcher 3 – which I guess starts when you reach the archipelago to the West ? – is still potentially a long way to go (especially if you include the DLC campaigns on the way).
So let’s get through Metaphor, until the inevitable and full priced Metaphor Imperial enhanced edition.
As much as I love Dragon Quest XI, if you don’t feel like playing act 3, just don’t do it. What you see is what you get so if you’re thinking it’s just grindy RPG stuff that ruins the story, you’re exactly right
Act 2 ended and I felt like I got everything I wanted from the story, but was pleasantly surprised and intrigued that there was going to be more. I didn’t know how to feel about the time travel thing, and after progressing through the story a tiny bit I realized that Act 3 was going into a direction I wasn’t sure that I was going to find fulfilling, so I “chickened out”.
I think I’m going to finish Metaphor and try Act 3 out, I’ve waited to dive back in with fresh eyes for a minute now.
I really liked Act 3 but I also didn’t mind killing metal slimes until I was level 99 (grinding on metal slimes is just part of the DQ experience, for me). Still couldn’t beat the ultra hard optional boss, though.
I’m thinking of getting a Steam Deck or something later this year, so I’ve slowly been chipping away at my library I have on my Switch. 95% of my gaming is on my hour long train commute. Which of these would you smoke through on some train rides?
I love the renewed interest and discussion for Citizen Sleeper! I think anyone with an interest in narrative choices in games needs to give it a try. Especially considering it’s length and pacing
DQXI act 3 may seem overly grindy, but I think you are meant to figure out the proper area order that will let you level up naturally, while looking for better equipment/sidequests to tackle harder areas.
The difficulty increase is noticeable but nothing some extensive use of buffs/debuffs and status effects can’t fix, which isn’t unlike other DQs’ tougher battles. The game doesn’t prepare you very well for this though.
The story stuff is decent enough but best to pretend it’s a beefy gameplay DLC, which may not be what you are looking for? (I really enjoyed it)
Feeling like an FPS, bit of a blindspot for me for PS2 and earlier (especially PC/Mac stuff) and not sure where to start. Black always seemed cool, loved Burnout 3. Have started Killzone 2 a few times but got bored before getting past the first area, maybe getting into the story with 1 will help.
