Thrifty garaging fleas! Share your thrift store finds

Got this great old Thomas collection for my son. Love the old art in these back when they were real freaks.

Hit up Recycled Books in Denton, TX (as well as the Free Play location there – they had Planet Harriers!) and came home with this stuff, including Insert Credit fave Rain Jerks, which was quite an unexpected Texas bookstore find:

Found this old photo of the n64 I found in the slab city junkyard
I set it on a tarp to work on it because it was full of crud
I salvaged parts and some are still in mg m64 today. The jumper pak was somehow entirely preserved haha

Also Found a pic of possibly the most epic groundscore of my life

@treefroggy wow, someone just dumped a while library eh? It’s wild when that happens.

I got this for 50 cents at a yard sale today, and a bunch of noise and drone tapes. Pretty wild stuff

the image won't upload but I sure did find a beautifully clean Sega Game Gear at the thrift store down the street the other day

I don't like going to the thrift store closest to my house because its run by very old ladies and I can always feel their trans-judging stares as I browse the clothes section.

But i went there today and I bought a really nice skirt and a practically brand new 450w pc power supply (it was 7~ bucks!) and the lady at the counter said to me "quite the peculiar combo you have here" in a weird tone and at that point I just thought that was slightly amusing.

That thrift store directly benefits and orphanage so that's nice at least.

I’ve been traveling a bit (and not being on the forum/internet very much, hi everybody), and recently went to a dirt mall/trader’s mall/peddler’s mall called THE SHED in my hometown of Paducah, KY. Here’s some of the treasure they had, including an entire stall dedicated to Little Brother Controllers:

(I picked up some common games at fairly average prices, but it was fun to just look around the lovely garbage)

You get yourself some POWERFUL SEXUAL ATTRACTOR and a 3rd party N64 pad and you've got yourself a party

@tokucowboy damn, I love it! This is what a thrift store’s game section is supposed to look like! I feel like I see a 3do controller in there!?

this was actually at a weird head shop in morgan hill CA called ROCK ZONE, reminds me of video games.

@exodus
I found a photo I took of the bags exactly where I left them that day in oaklahnd… Glad I did because I could not find any photos of that PS2 bag online!

and here’s the score of the century, from hayfork, CA!

I did buy it and I did use my Sony Playstation to blast the tunes out into the forest.

I just thrifted a Hori Ace Combat 6 Ace Edge flight stick (both parts) which looks to be Xbox 360, which I don‘t have. I guess I thought I would be able to use it on the series X but apparently not. It was a pretty good buy at $20 I thought. But will likely sell it if I can’t actually use it

@onefiftythree I got mine at a Bungie garage sale (aka clearing out random Stuff that had accumulated around the office) and it’s got that weird rubber that’s deteriorated into stickiness over time. I know you can fix it but I haven’t done it yet. It is a shame the HOTAS doesn’t work on new Xboxes though, seeing as the game is backwards compatible. I think you can use it on PC though, if you wanna play AC7?

@andrewelmore yeah this one’s got that stickiness also. good to know, if I ever break down and get a PC…

Scored a Sony Handycam for $7. Came complete, including all of the composite to RF adapters.
Now I can start a youtube channel!

@copySave That’s rad. I love old Sony hardware.

@tomjonjon Me too! Would love to find a classic Walkman cassette player too.

My parents had a giant camcorder so even now this little guy seems amazing. It’s dense and everything on it feels great. Lots of good sliding rails and snapping components. I’m hoping I can pump it’s direct composite output to my Retrotink 2X and then OBS so I won’t need to use its little tapes (I’ll still get some tapes though). Haven’t tested it yet, but hopefully it’ll give me good 480i analog video.

@copySave The tape mechanism usually is the first thing to wear out on old camcorders so being able to capture is a cool way to keep these things in use.

Huge thrift / swap meet sessions coming soon. I feel my sleeping thrift dragon beginning to reawaken. Catch me at LACC swap meet at 5AM. nevermind, I forgot they open at 9
